improving bass on Cornwall II ?

Well there's no paper label on the back anymore, but I haven't checked for a stamped # on the rear edge yet. I guess I need to tear the mountain down again, argh!

And what the heck can I do with a pair of 8 ohm K33's? I play electric bass sometimes, would they work out in a 2x15" bass cab?
 
Member @rmlowz63 bought a pair of the GRS K33's recently. He is about to finish up a project using them in a Cornwall type enclosure I believe. Perhaps reach out to him and get an opinion of how the GRS K33 is working out?

Wouldn’t they work fine in a cornwall I with some simple network changes. Change a couple caps and move the squaker/tweeter to a different autoformer tap?

Now that's funny. There was a CW1 crossover inside with those speakers. Pics earlier in the thread. But it appeared to be wired up normally.

What are these "simple network changes"? Aren't all CW woofers spec'd at 4 ohms?

Dean.. Can you expand a little on the ‘no’ so I can learn a bit.

Heresy went from a 16ohm woofer to an 8ohm with a a tap and cap change. Is it not so simple here because this 8ohm k33 is an unknown?
Heresy went from an 11 ohm woofer to an 8 Ohm in the commercial line. Never heard of a 16 and I go back to the 70's with the Heresys.
 
I would just buy the right woofers.
Unless you can do curves of the K33 vs. an off brand, like THD+N, another woofer will not work as well. The Crites stamped CW1526 works better than the cast frame one, however. Simulated and measure by me. Or you can wait for THD+N's results in a few weeks. Worth the wait.

I thought I read the type ‘C’ network Heresy were 16ohm woofers. (~11ohm dcr)

Just curious is all. Obviously I agree the best solution is a proven 4ohm woofer.

OK, this is a CORNWALL thread. Why are we confusing things by talking about a Heresy? Let's start there, starting with DATES from a 75 year old journey of Klipsch products.

If I hooked them up in parallel they'd be 4 ohms & would match the crossover specs :D

I could build a 1x15" sealed enclosure & use it as a riser for the CW2

I have designed several "twin woofer" BASS REFLEX cabinets. Only a Cornwall cabinet can be called a that. You have to double the volume of air inside to get to the same low frequency performance. Anything less will require tuning the port to a higher low frequency, resulting in more output but at higher cutoff frequency.

Tuning the port to a higher frequency in a small(er) enclosure can also lead to the infamous "boomy" bass syndrome that some ported enclosures are known for.

Yes. Driver, box, and port must all be optimized. It's science after all, with a little "salt to taste" thrown in. However it's the ROOM, listening position, and speaker position that have ever greater, further effect on the listening experience.
