Yep, I won´t mind doing that again if something turns up at the charity shops.

I put my Philips amp. back in the setup, and re-adjusted the DC offset. It had drifted to 70mV (50mV is the norm) measured the DC on speaker outputs: left -12mV, right 1.6mV. So it´s not that bad :D

Cleaned the Volume pot and speaker selector knob, so when the bulbs arrive, I´ll take it apart and install bulbs and get in the setup again.

Don't know if you are into diy but those snaps and crackles are probably caps or signal transistors or both, in the pre amp and amp sections.

Would definitely be worth the effort. Cost shouldn't be high at all.

It really is a looker for sure in your system.
 
I think you are right, and that is a bit of a let down, since I have no clue when it comes to repairing electronics. but I might get some of my HiFi friends to help me.

Thanks, I really like the looks of it too, it looks a bit like the Kenwood/Trio KW70, that I would love to have in my setup, tubes... yes please!

On another note, anybody know what Sony called there wood cases/covers? You know, like Marantz´s is WC-1 And Kenwood is CB-7K. for instance.
 
The crackling is most likely from one of the potentiometers or switches. Never do anything to anything until everything's cleaned up. Congratulations on a great unit, I have been looking to get one of those, but they usually cost around 200€. I would rather spend that kind of money on a Luxman. ;)

Man, that receiver just looks like new! I leave lots of stuff at the thrift here because it looks too beat up. Love your system too!

Thanks! This did actually look a bit tatty when I saw it, dull wood case from sun light, dirty front yellow from Nicotine, cob webs all over the back and lots of dust inside (damn why did I not take any pics. before cleaning) But I thought why not give it a chance, it might sound nice. So you never know what hides under the dirt, a near mint item or a beat up one.

I found this pic. It might not be so easy to see but i did take this pic. before cleaning the faceplate. Some of the switches are covered in gunk, and it just looks dull.
 
I have this one , the sound is full and strong , powerfull bass, exellent quality. No need loudness. I love it .!

I did read that too, in my search for information on the web. Not that I have anything to compare to, other than my Philips FT-980 tuner.

While this may be more common that my experience has led me to believe, I thought it was pretty cool that you could adjust the bass and treble for left and right independently.

NO!!! I'm not inviting anyone to start a debate on leaving those flat. No, no, no!!! ;)
 
No please don´t do that. :boring:

I haven´t noticed that on any other Receiver either, but kinda makes sense though if you have a speaker sitting in a corner, and one standing free like I have for instance.
 
I might get hold of a set of AR6 Speakers. They need refoaming, but I´ve done that before so that´s no problem. Just need to get the price a bit down. Good match for the Sony you think?
