Incoming B-6...Might be a basket case...will need Avionics help for sure !!! FIXED, again !!!

Yes.. Just make sure they are securely fastened. Don't want a couple magnets floating around inside the amplifier.

Great now I need to de-solder the relay . lol

the 12000uf caps I left as I am pretty sure the originals are ok. They tested fine at all frequencies my LCR meter uses to test caps. And 60 bucks a cap for an Amp I might not get working isnt worth it right now. If It runs for a few weeks I can open her up again and replace them.

Deflect and/or reduce arc plasma.

Ahh smart!!!

Ok Im getting ready in the next day or two to put it all back together .

But not sure how to proceed with assembly as it was all in pieces when I got it and missing many screws.
For example what size are the ones that hold the SRC to the central chassis metal plate.

And what goes into the bonnet first etc.

And I dont have any 15 amp fuses will a 12 amp work for now ?

ok, starting to reassemble and hook up the wiring .

Here are some pics... can you guys double check to make sure I got it right.

Also need to screw size for some of the bonnets screws and the SRC screws.

I also forgot to get the 1k trimpots in a multiturn . I do have some bourns single turn , but I think that the adjustability would be the same as the originals.

Ok I got some #6 and #8 panhead screws for reassembly and some washers for the output transistors metal plate to heat sink and the 15 amp fuse.

Need to put the heat thermal grease on the SCR and the main bonnet.

@avionic , Can I fire it up with out the bonnet ? And for how long?

Yes.

See bullet statements under adjustments on page 8 of SM..

Yeah saw that adjustment note in the Sm, just thought you might have a trick or two
up your sleeve.

I'll give it a shot tomorrow evening . Any final words of advice? ;) lol

The seller I got this from on the bay sent me this in a eBay PM , the repair slip.

He said he doesn't remember if he paid the service charge cause he was so MAD when when he saw the amp !!!

Well Fired it up and this happened.

So I looked to see if maybe the rectifiers on the cap boards were bad they seem good but I found this.

@avionic Could cracked solder joints cause the fuse to blow and the hum? My limited experience says yes it could cause a higher current draw causing the fuse to blow. But what about the hum. I reflowed the solder but did not put a new fuse in yet....waiting for advice and direction.

Well I was able to set the voltage to 76 vdc and the optocoupler start point to 60 mv I also set the DC offsets for left and right. Tomorrow I'll set the bias current.

I cant believe I was able to get this thing this far ...... the real test is if it passes audio, that will be after bias is set .

Thanks Dave for the guidance !!!!

I was able to do what XrayTony could not !!! :D

LOL.... I can't stand his boring videos.. That one he did on the B-6 that kicked his ass was the one and only video I watched painfully in its entirety ..

I was actually re watching it now!!! Trying to figure out what he was messing up. But the main board for the Jap version is different than mine from what I can see.

Tomorrow we'll see if this one passes music . :D
