Infinity Quantum 4 speakers

Hello, Picked up some Infinity Quantum 4 speakers at a garage sale for $15.00 for the pair. They look in decent shape, Woofers need some work. Are these worth the effort to bring back? I just couldn't pass them up.

$15???? Those are definitely worth fixing.

I'd try to contact the ebay seller "looneytune2001" and tell him you need foams for a set of Quantum 4's. He may be able to hook you up.

Those are replacement woofers, they do look like later model Infinitys though.
The woofers should be dual voice coil models with two sets of terminals on the back.
If only one set of terminals then the wiring needs to be checked.
Absolutely worth fixing.

Yes, on the back of the woofer. You may be able to see how many wires there are just by looking through the cones IF your cones are clear. With gray cones you'd most likely need to remove the woofer from the cabinet to check.
Looks like the cones may have been slightly butchered in a previous recap (jagged edges on the plastic cone) but may not be a problem audibly. I have a similar pair myself though slightly less plastic removed.

Go for it!
If the mids and/or EMITs are playing soft or not playing, the individual level adjustment controls might benefit from a good cleaning.

Try a normal foam repair kit, Rick Cobb as mentioned above is great to order from, otherwise your local speaker repair shop will probably have the foam and glue. Good luck, these are great speakers!

Score for sure, dumb luck is better than none. Be really careful testing the mids and emits they’ll blow really easily if you put a direct signal to them.

After reading the specs on the speakers and my current equipment I dont think what I have will do. Listed below is my current audio gear. Suggestions appricated.

Ok, Just picked up the refoamed woofers. I decided to have them professionally done, I used Neal's speaker repair in colfax, ca. From what I can tell they do good work and are great to talk with. The Yamaha gets pretty warm if I turn the volume up a bit.

Refoaming woofers are very easy to do --- simply speakers has great tutorials for specific woofers but the general process is the same across any woofer

I disagree with the suggestion for Rick Cobb's surrounds. That seller overcharges by about $10-$20, kudos to his success
