Is there a differance in surrounds?

I have a pair of Realistic Mach 3's needing a re-foam and I see kits for Mach 1& 2's but not the Mach 3's, is the 15" main speaker the same?:scratch2:

If the surround is the right size, and the same type, I would guess it ought to be close enough. The surround is not as important as the spider in determining the parameters of the driver, but obviously you want to get as close a match to the original as you can. I haven't followed the changes in the Mach series, but I would assume that they aren't all that much different.

gotta measure...the mach 1's, while a nominal 15" woofer, as kinda sorta like the large advent, which was a typical 10" speaker's cone in a 12" basket, with an extra large roll for more excursion...the mach 1's cone is undersized relative to a typical 15" woofer, closer to one for a 13.5-14" woofer, and an extra large roll on the surround.

Hi
For your purposes the most important thing is the size of the foam roll which affects the compliance and travel. I suggest checking with the McPeak Sound Co which can be emailed at
msound@citlink.net
they have a store at
http://www.stores.ebay.com/msound?refid=store
just in case they already have made a kit for these and there is a simple but greatly informative website here
http://www.citlink.net/~msound/
that will give you the information that you need to correctly measure the old ones.
Read the website instructions please because I learned a lot and I replaced my first foams over 20 years ago before there were shims ;-).

The compliance of the surround can change the T&S parameters of a woofer. Try to get something that is close. So, common sence would be not to use heavy stiff foam where thin pliable foam used to be.

Good points made, did order some from a guy in Florida (Loonytunes) via Paypal, I will see when they arrive. Thank you all.

I've own One's and owned Two's and the surrounds are interchangeable, no issues. Late model one's (4029, which I also have) share the same basket and trim ring with the Two's, which I believe is the same as the Three's. Should be fine. In any case they're pretty easy to do, mostly because of the size. Should try doing 3" mids, that's fun.
