Cool. Gonna start working now. What should I use for a ground wire? Just any garage copper sheathed?

It would appear there is only one connection of copper in a single line and some light shielding around the outside of that sheath… shouldn’t there be a very small red and white wire inside? Maybe not the right cables I was looking for.

Maybe this style RCA cable would work better? It has the green/white green/red

Yes.
Any wire for ground should work.

Great! Thank you. Should the ground line have a pigtail like this innit or could that also be a big problem? Found this under some electrical tape earlier from previous owners repairs I’m guessing… that same ground stop at the underside of the motor and then travels to this random resistor… seem normal to the half trained eye?

Bit of a sloppy soldering as only my 2nd time soldering anything, but both channels are working again and the “hiss/buzz” has been reduced by at least a noticeable 70%! I can still hear a hissing if no record is playing and I crank the amp up past 6, but it was buzzing hard when sitting at 2 so I’m gonna say this is a win for now.
