I've been offered a Tube and pre Amp

Are any of you familiar with This

Any idea what these pieces are worth?

I listened for less than 1/2 hour, wasn't totally blown away, only listened to CD's.

Here are the spec's.

Any help with this brand or the engineer Tim d'Paravicini would be great.

Thanks.

Tim is a god.

Anything he's designed will be good. Sort of like John Curl and preamplifiers or Nelson Pass and class A amplification.

The Luxman MB3045 of Tim's design is highly respected and although only sold for about a grand a pair back in the day, gets about twice that today. 50wpa and the original tubes are NLA so many have been rewired for KT88/6550 in UL or Triode mode.

These EAR amps would have to sound very nice.

I've heard the power amp. TTVJ in Three Forks had one set up. Wonderful! As far as value, wow. Multiple thousands to be sure. Maybe $5K for both? That would be a steal actually. I'm just guessing but I know Todd wanted at least $2.5K just for the power amp used. It was definitely out of my hobo budget.

Yeah, a bit high for my budget at this time.

I'm going to see if $1000 can get me the preamp.

Thanks for all the input.

Is that who designed those Luxman amps you have? Those things are very nice. If his other efforts are comparably designed I'd have to say it should be good stuff.

TdP also designed the C1000 / M4000 / M6000 / L100 solid-state series for Luxman in the mid-1970s.

That's some high end stuff. I had a few mono block 509's (original ones from the 70's not the repops) and I got $6500.00 for the pair and they weren't cosmetically in the best shape, but hade been completely gone through. The guy who bought them from me was going to use them in a guitar setup. Anyway, just about anything that's EAR is going to high end. Those mono blocks I had sounded amazing. I haven't heard or had any other EAR stuff. It's rather hard to find and rarely comes up for sale.

I'd love to get these, as I'm sure I would use them for the foreseeable future, except the speakers.

The wheels are turning in my head on a way to raise some quick cash.

Is anyone familiar with Impact speakers? He mentioned they were "hand built", bought everything in a high end store in North Carolina I think.

I can't seem to find anything on them after a quick Google.

Not sure of the Impact model. He originally paid $2200. for them. They are two way, about four feet high and three feet deep. Does anyone have a link relating to them?

I'm going to move this purchase forward. He is not in a rush and is willing to wait till I get the money.

I'm selling a bunch of framed concert posters and older equipment to raise funds.

He's also including a complete set of orgingal tubes that came with the amp and pre amp.

Also included, all wires/connectors/cables which he spent over $600.00 on.

Sounds like a phenomenal deal and a great seller to deal with. I'll give you a premature congratulations on this one!

This is one of those "you can't lose" deals that's worth the investment, even if it's a short-term stretch.
