JBL 4367 experience?

I'm looking at buying a pair of new JBL 4367s and currently not finding them in stock, which means ordering a pair.

Does anyone here have experience / own a pair? I'd like to hear any experience good or bad before I make a decision.

There's still listed on USAM no affiliation a pair of 4367's in So. Fla

I did see those in Miami, but too far away to inspect in-person so I'd prefer to go new w/ warranty given a choice.

I'm a bit of an impulse buyer, if I want them I need to get them ordered before I move to something else.

The intent is to replace both of my current pairs: JBL L300A and Altec Model Nineteen with a single pair of new speakers, continuing my update & make space path.

I have chased some 4365/4367's and I'd love to hear a pair but they are pretty rare as you noted. I've heard the Array 1400 and the M2 (briefly) and found both to be excellent dynamically.

I've owned a 4760d pair for a year now and I have to say, if you can stand the looks I can't imagine these getting shown up by any of the JBL's I've listed above. The drivers are just over the top in terms of capability and with the need to use your own active Xover (and EQ), you can voice them any way you choose. I'd be a bit worried that the fixed passive crossover in a 4365/67 might not be to my liking now and I'd be missing the ability to tweak them as I do with the 4760.

I fully support your quest for these holy grails though and hope you score a pair. I'm still hoping a pair of K2 S9900's pops up around here, but that might take a few years...

The 4367 has become a definite object of infatuation for me. Good golly though, I have a hard time seeing how JBL arrived at the $16500 list price. I'm not saying it's not worth it at all. I would love to see and hear a pair up close and in person and learn more about the design and build. Then, maybe I would understand. Until then, I can dream! Good luck in your quest.

Especially now that they are made in Mexico.
For that money I would buy a USA Made Paragon have custom X-overs made, swap in some slots, and leave my kids a Legacy work of art that will only appreciate.$$$

Here ya go, maybe not too far a ride for you.

They mention in stock, and also an open box pair listed at a decent savings. And I'd assume a full warranty with them. You might even score the open box pair for less? A phone call away, ask for Bes, he'll do you right!

I did find a new pair and bought them, now I have to decide whether the boxes will fit in my vehicle and go get them (or rent a van). It's a big vehicle that has swallowed a full-size refrigerator in the box, so I hope it will. It certainly will be a softer ride than a van.

I'm still a bit nervous though, basically buying consumer M2s wrapped in walnut, that they will have no soul. Monitors can be like that, hard and analytical.

JBL did a great job in the past creating consumer versions of their monitors so I have faith that these will be excellent speakers also.

Fit in a full size SUV, or soccer mom van yes, in a car, likely not.

Mister Pig went through something similar when he got his 4365s. You can add the 'soul' back with careful preamp and amp pairings but it's expensive and somewhat of roll of the synergy dice.

I am very excited to follow your journey here as I have often considered these speakers.

I'd love to consider these speakers as well... If I hit the lottery. LOL

As for possibly not liking their sound, that's going to have to be personal taste.
Will it sound like a Studio Monitor? Probably. But I'd assume a damn fine Studio Monitor.

I sort of look at this Speaker as a modern day 4430, but I gather this Speaker addresses deficiencies that the 4430 was claimed-stated to have. Somewhat similar size, and layout to the 4430, both 2-ways.

I'm guessing you'll be powering these with McIntosh?

I gather the drivers within the 4367 can and do hold their own superbly. One day hope to hear a pair.

Aborted the trip today, will head out Monday I believe.

I had them send me the box measurements, they will fit boxed in my vehicle which makes me happy. Since my Model Nineteens fit in there, ... I'm pretty sure most speaker pairs will.

Out with the old, ...

As far as amps, I'm downsizing there too. These will be driven by MC240, MC75s or the MC452 so it will be interesting to see how they work together. Everything else is either sold or being sold. It's a senior thing I think.

I understand, I think the 3 Amps you mention will all be very fine choices. There's not too many inefficient JBL Speakers, with a few exceptions.

The things I'd be wishing to hear is clarity-purity of sound, and imaging-soundstaging. I think they'll do fine.
No, no L-Pads to tweak, but I believe Bi-Wireable. L-Pads are cool, but just an electrical hurdle in ways, a weak point. I don't see much of that in state of the art designs today.

I'd wish for a Speaker that not only rocks the house, but also one that is also right at home reproducing fine classical music, acoustical instruments, and other genres well besides just rock-blues-disco.

The word I'm probably looking for is truth.

Loud music, of course one could buy a thrift shop pair of Cerwin Vegas, and have everyone in the hood banging their heads against their walls.

Compared to like say my 4430 Monitors, I would suspect a similar visceral impact, and slam-authority when you let them strut their stuff. And sure, would be interesting having the many great JBLs do "battle".

The 4367 versus the L-300 at similar SPLs. Or others from the 4300-4400 Series.

Hope all goes well! Hoping that they will be keepers.

I think the preamp too will have its effects, and the sound will be further voiced dependent on what preamp.

Thought I'd add a little laugh at the end here! LOL!

With such large speakers, it's usually a good idea to have a helping hand, and thinking things through when loading, unloading, and unboxing. Have a plan.

One afternoon, as I was re-packing my 4430 Speakers for a trip across country, one almost got away from me in the Living Room, and was about to fall face forward.

I luckily caught the Speaker in the nick of time before it toppled. My blood pressure went off the charts.

They are home. Oh that fresh speaker smell, well there wasn't any smell really but I imagined there would be.

I'll let them break in for a few days, take some measurements and RMC them and then sit back and enjoy some more.

My back can't take that shootout!

It would be fun, I'd have to move some furniture to make room and not sure how "fast" I'd be at swapping them. However, the plan is that they will all go away and therefore it doesn't really matter it would only be for fun.

The 4367s are in, play well with the 452. I will try a couple of tube amps with them once they're broken in but so far the meters are barely touching the 45W mark with some pretty impressive dynamics so I'm thinking they'll be okay with tubes just like JBL claims.
