No problem, priorities come first. Although the Seller did drop the price by $10 and offered cheaper UPS ground shipping too.

It was actually 2 turntables, Numark TT1610, and a mixer Numark DM950 in a carry case. I tried one table out, and it works, although it could use a new cart and some alignment.

She also got me an Onkyo receiver, which works great! I have tomorrow off, maybe I can get some work done on finishing the sides of the L300's.

9° Fahrenheit here this morning... Seems a bit early for that sort of thing.

Funds are tight, I will probably not be able to work on much for a while.
 
Yeah, almost everyone is going into an early deep freeze...

However, it's time to stay inside and tweak our systems.

Zonk, he recently bid on the woofers, but they got expensive quickly. He is presently biding his time and looking to score...hoping to get correct JBL woofers first, and then getting the knock-off Kenrick lenses on the 'Bay which look really good and are priced reasonably. Definitely on the right track.
 
Yeah, sorry guys no lenses or woofers yet. As someone mentioned before, my money has to go for priorities first. Will keep you all posted as I complete my speakers. Thanks for your interest, and help as well. I am enjoying reading and learning a lot here.
 
Well, I have some "new" used equipment, I got a Rotel RB-980BX power amp and am using the Onkyo receiver as a preamp. I am again hearing new things in the music. There is clarity and depth in the sound from the Rotel that just wasn't there before. The Rotel was a score as well, at $10.
 
I can without a doubt say the 2235 driver is a fantastic bass driver !!! My Waveform Machs use them and provide some very deep bass. Keep looking they pop up time to time.

No doubt that the Rotel added some beef to the stew!
 
Yes, the preamp I was telling you about has a bass bump button that gives a 6db boost at 100hz. Turn it up a little and you can hear the power flowing!

A lot of songs I prefer flat though.

When you finally get the correct 15" driver, you will find that you will not need that bass bump button, as there will be ample energy at 100 Hz, and very far below it as well.

I would have thought that the 4 ohm subs in there would draw some extra energy versus proper 8 ohm, but I don't know much about crossovers yet.

Then there is the efficiency/sensitivity of the woofers that can be a much bigger factor than the (nominal) impedance itself. I do not know the specs, but let's imagine a scenario where the original woofers have a much higher sensitivity and therefore would be producing a much higher output with the same input level.

In the above scenario, at any given level the original driver would have much higher output than the new woofer relative to the other drivers.
