Pretty good pro PA speakers, though. I tracked down a pair for my dad at about that same price.

Your 'Sui receivers would have problem driving them as they are quite efficient. Better than your current speakers? Well, certainly different. Depending upon the size of your listening space, they might actually be something of a let-down. They are not nearly as "pretty" as what you currently have. Any chance you could listen to them first? Either way, you could likely recoup your investment should you decide against them.

Thank you for being candid. He gave me his older "Fender" PA speakers and the sui does just fine driving them. The reason is when we have parties he brings his "RACK" of Karaoke equipment (not that junk either) and he had too many speakers, so he gave me the fender set so we can just hook his system into those but they work fine with the Sansui Monster G330000.....yes I could see how they sound first that's not a problem.....would do that anyway....our family room is fairly large space......thanks for your quick replies and yes I know I could sell them if they weren't a fit....he is asking 100 per speaker. He said he paid 300 for them years ago.....

Not to argue, but they're a far cry from the "pro" level.
Absolute bottom of the line JBL's, even the cabinets are crappish.
I'd guess that most JBL fans who have paid real money for real JBL's find the TR stuff a bit offensive.
Check the speaker forum, there are recent "TR" threads there.

I've seen them before....the cabinets are built like a brick house....are they pretty ? That's debatable! I'm not interested in looks but more sound as everyone here trashes the Sansui speakers (kabookie what ever....). Keep the comments coming so I can summarize these speakers etc...

If you're saying this about TR's, then i'm pretty confident you've never seen a JBL "pro" cabinet.
I promise, compared to a real JBL "pro" cabinet like an SR or SRX series, the TR are very minimally and cheaply built from low cost materials with low cost components, they are a "pricepoint" design meaning the main design criteria was that they come in below a certain price, performance took a distant back seat.

I am not conducting a beauty contest.....for a hundred bucks each sounds better than the sansui boxes......I'm NOT interested in spending thousands of dollars on speakers either. I'm 50 have had the Sansui monster for 29 years with the crappy sansui speakers. anything has to be better than those.....and besides my hearing is not the best as some can hear thru cement walls.....not me....

Not trying to give you a hard time fabvsix, just trying to emphasize that where "sound quality" is concerned, the TR's will be a lateral step from the Sanbukis at best.
Those JBL's will play loud as stink, but so will a skillsaw on sheetmetal, and it'd be debatable which sounds better.
I think you could do better with the money you're looking to spend.
FWIW, i'm not talking about cosmetics when i mention cost and build quality. "Good" JBL's are just as ugly as those TR's, but their sound quality potential is on an exponentially higher level.

I appreciate your candor.......so the sansui may just be better when it comes to "sound" as opposed to flat PA sound.......I do have both a pair of Fender PA's and Sansui 9000's.....I feel the sansui have much better sound, but when it come to karaoke they suffer as the Fender PA are much better.....One day i obtain those high dollar speakers .....one day....just not right now....I do enjoy my Sansui G330000 however.....in fact its Friday, almost 5 on the WASTE coast, I mean WEST coast (LOL) so time to crank up the beast and have a stiff drink......:thmbsp::thmbsp::yes:

I have the TR225s here. I bought them for $300 with a Crown amp included, then sold the Crown amp for $300. I might pay $100 for a pair, but not $200 for a pair.
The cabinets are quite poorly made, I've had ongoing problems with them- I've had to pin the baffle boards in from all sides because they started rattling & shifting in place (these have not see the road, they've only moved from a friend's rehearsal space to mine). The crappy particle board cabs also expand with any exposure to humidity, all of the bottom corner joints have split even thought they've never been wet, they just sat on their heavy rubber feet on a dry-looking cement floor for a weekend or so.
They're essentially big EONs, if you've ever heard those speakers. Eminence woofers, low-end JBL horn drivers.
As far as sound, they would be an OK choice for karaoke since they're efficient, more durable than home hi-fi for amateurs holding microphones, and because I've never seen anybody really care much about music sound quality for karaoke. They do OK for me as vocal & keyboard monitors in my recording/rehearsal studio. I've used them for a charity show to DJ outdoors, they're OK for that as well. I'd never use them for home stereo, for that they're possibly the worst-sounding speakers I own, certainly the worst-sounding JBLs.
My TR225s are also 4 ohm, check before using them on any home hi-fi amp. Very efficient, though, mine are 102dB 1W/1M. Heavy, too- mine are ~95 lbs.
