"Jerry Seinfeld's" speakers?

I just saw an episode in which Jerry, Elaine and George went to a party and there was a pair of Bose 901's (Series V or VI) on tulip stands. Well actually I just saw one, but I assume...

I thought I was the only one who saw that. I believe it started as a Mac SE, then a Mac SE30, then a Quadra 638CD, then a Duo 280c with the ultra cool docking station and finally the 20th anniversary model you mention.

I used to be into vintage Macs in a big way as they were so cheap. These days, as Apple has become suddenly "popular and Hip" the prices on them have sky rocketed. Were talking units you couldn't give away 5 yrs ago going for hundreds and even thousands of dollars now.

Kinda like audio gear today? I see things every day listed online for $400 (and that seems fair today) that when I research it here one of the threads about it will be from 10 years ago and guys were saying “I have 4 of those, use them as tire chocks in the garage” or “got one at GW yesterday for $3. They wanted $5 but I talked them down.” I love it (hoping the trend continues and I’m making some good investments now) while it also destroys a part of my soul simultaneously.

now if anyone ever watched the HBO series VINYL.......that was some audio background! i bought a couple of pieces after seeing them on the show......

The thing is, I remember reading this thread the last time it was revived, and I was hoping someone had finally identified Jerry's speakers, but nope!

I think the later episodes of Seinfeld might be Mitsubishi speakers, not Diatones, just the regular branded speakers. He also had a couple Saab’s and an E34 BMW.
The post noticing the EQ levels is funny, it would be cool if it was a random crew member like a grip doing that just for personal satisfaction without notice.
The little CV D2’s in the girls apartment on Friends were obvious, grills off for color in the set design I imagine. When Joey was playing Dr. Drake Ramoray
making money he bought some Magnepans.

I've seen every Seinfeld episode and have seasons 1,2 and 3 on DVD. Over time the speakers have changed. Their are white woofers in the later seasons which would preclude them from being CV's. I always assumed they were some sort of JBL.

Mike

Maybe he re-coned them? :rflmao:

Well boys...

I was watching a season 2 episode, and I just knew that I recognized those speakers. A visit to Audiokarma for the answer and came up short!
Being a Sacramento resident, they looked so familiar...

ESS HD series

Possibly prototypes as there is so much funky ESS stuff floating around NorCal.

The controls in the upper left corner of the baffle look different.

If you Google "ESS HD" speakers with an image search, you will find different iterations of the HD-1200 or HD-1000 that people have posted. Some even have a bullet tweeter of sorts instead of a hi freq. horn.

Additionally, the logo on the badge varies, including some that have large white 'ESS' lettering seemingly matching Jerry's when viewed from afar.

This is a guess, of course - but my best guess after dealing with ESS speakers for years up here in Sacramento where they were originally produced.

What about the blue speakers that were in the show?

Glad to see this bumped.. I started rewatching from season 1 and was questioning the stereo system when all of a sudden all his electronics are stolen in episode 3. Paused and got this shot on episode 4, and after another episode's worth of research I found out that they're JVC Zero 6s.
