Another possibility would be Jico having sold exclusive selling rights to another company. For Japanese people it already was not possible to buy through the international site, I guess to protect local dealers.
But of course it might have a totally different reason. By not mentioning any reason though, they feed the rumour machine. That might be orchestrated, although it doesn't really feel that way.
No rights have been sold. I can't discuss particulars, but the reason is related to a manufacturing concern. If you know why the original Shure VN5MR and VN5xMR were discontinued, the manufacturing concern is in the same ballpark as the reason those Shure styli were discontinued. Sorry to be so opaque.
