June 3rd Led Zeppelin

had an auction to support this site of about 20 led zep albums, so im a little thin on zep records. im going super deluxe box sets all the way down the line. (my poor wallet)

I bought the Deluxe Box set for Aqualung at $140! (ouch) It is great, though the vinyl has yet to hit my table. I honestly didn't mind that too much as the album is that good and i had never heard a good release in LP or CD.

While I love Zep's body of work overall, for me none of the individual LPs (except maybe PG) are worthy of that chunk of change (I know that's sacrilege to the Zepheads!). I will be ordering each of the vinyl only sets though, just not sure if I'll get the basic LP or one of the ones with extras. Though I love them all, for me the meat of the collection is the next three.

I wonder any I don't see a 2ch hi-rez Bluray like in many other Super Deluxe editions???? The one in Aqualung is simple stunning.

So what do you guys think of the new remastered release of Led Zeppelin coming out in a few days. What kit are you going to getÉ The Deluxe , Super deluxe or just the LPs?

I think I'll get the Deluxe edition of LZI to get an early live recording in my collection. I will probably get the regular LP versions of LZII and LZIII because I'm never going to want to put on an entire album of outtakes and rough mixes. I found a preview of Whole Lotta Love, and the prospect of listening to alternate vocals without lead guitar is not very enticing. I will wait to preview some of the other bonus tracks before I buy to see if there are any must-haves. No rush for me, I don't think these will really be 'limited.'

the remasters are currently being reviewed over at the steve Hoffman forums. personally im happy just to have a clean copy of the old stuff. crack open a cold one crank up the volume and enjoy! im very happy jimmy page took the time to do this for us the fans of his music.

A bit of Zep trivia:

June 3 marks the anniversary of their disastrous, rained-out and riotous concert in Tampa, Florida on the 1977 tour.

I was Dazed & Confused...

:smoke: I remember like it was yesterday...

I pre-ordered the first three LP's "standard" for $24 ea. through Soundstage Direct...

I did the same before seeing them at Music Direct for 22.99. If you contact SoundStage Direct they'll match the MD price.

Just use the contact form on their website and Anna will take care of you. :thmbsp:

With the exception of the Japan for US HotH, I've never heard a digital version of Zep that has the right "mojo."

Vinyl is another story, but the best stuff (originals, UK, and Classics) all cost a pretty penny.

I have high hopes for this set even though Jimmy's first remasters were worse than the original CDs, IMO.

Great article in today's WSJ about "Whole Lotta Love." And, yes, the ghost vocal was a bleed through that they added reverb to in order to make it other-wordly and cover up the flub.

Ahhhhh... the good ol' days!

Now you can't buy a beer at the show for what you paid for those tickets.

How true!

This has nothing to do with LZ, but speaking of prices for concerts. Just a few I have out of almost two hundred shows I've seen over the years...

Got the deluxe vinyl. All my Zep vinyls date from the late 1970's/early 1980's and was looking to upgrade anyway so this was convenient!

I ordered the standard LP's and Deluxe CD's. Wanted as close to the original as I could get with the LP's and all the extras on CD. Looking forward to the next 3.

I'd like to hear them, but the cds I've got sound pretty darn good already. It would be nice if they could remove some of that whiny nasally tone from Plants voice.

Ive been listening all yesterday afternoon, and all morning this morning, and i have to say, I am very impressed.....
They are a lot better than the previous remasters.......good amount of air, solid bass......dynamics are still there, they haven't brickwalled it.....

Here's the three 2CD Deluxe editions, they have a booklet with some photos I have never seen before.
They have done a really nice job of the artwork.

They have even included the spinning wheel, which actually spins in the cover, pretty cool......

I'm going out this morning to buy the Super Boxed 2nd album Vinyl edition with the 72 page book and the HD download code......way overpriced, but Led Zeppelin's music has and still is such an important and integral part of my life, I can't not have it!!

I got the guitar player magazine which has a neat interview with Jimmy......
