Calm down. I didn't "read something somewhere". The quote about the DIP switches on the back came directly from the video on the manufacturer's product page.

Obviously, they changed the design. They updated their product page today to add information about the capacitive loading options, including a diagram of the DIP switch settings. This is a good thing as that information was nowhere to be found until now.

Not sure why you think this is a bad thing worth getting upset about. Perhaps if more information about their product had been available sooner, they might have met their Kickstarter goal. Now that they are providing more information, perhaps more people will consider buying their product.

Yes, I wonder if the updates to the website are a consequence of this thread and associated activities e.g. I emailed them yesterday and got a prompt response from Steve (so that's a tick in the 'Positive' box straight away!), including the very same diagram and explanation of loading options which they've also updated their website with. I'm not sure they 'changed their design', I think they just failed to understand what levels of detailed product information are needed to sell phono pre-amps in today's market i.e. these loading options were always there, just poorly explained in their marketing blurb.

To my mind the loading options are at least as extensive, (and in many cases more so), as any other pre-amp in that price range (and quite a few much more expensive). All in all, for that money, I don't see any reason why this shouldn't deserve equal consideration with other phono pre-amps - especially if we start to see a few reviews.

So 1970zHifiGuy, thanks for bringing this interesting new product to our attention.

Looks interesting. Too bad shipping and import fees to Sweden will make it a bit pricey.
Maybe we swedes could get an extra compensation for all the great hockeyplayers we exported to the Canadian NHL teams .

Looks like an interesting phono stage for the price. I like the small size and the front-mounted controls as well.

The number of loading options on my Phonomena II is 17. Starts at 30 and goes up to 100K. Versus the 4 listed here. Of course this costs less so I would assume less options.

What made you choose this one over the many other options in this price range? What cartridge(s) do you plan to use with it?

Their Kickstarter page left me with more questions than answers:

Input Impedance: 20 Ω - 47 KΩ

Are those the only two values? Seems a bit limiting.

Input Capacitance: 0 pF - 470 pF

If those are the only two values, it seems VERY limiting. Why 470pF? Add in ~100 - 125pF for tonearm wires and the 470pF setting leaves you with a total capacitive load of 570 - 595pF. Is there a single cartridge available new that is optimized for such a high capacitive load? Even most vintage carts were not optimized for such a high capacitive load. Most MM/MI carts, both new and vintage are optimized for a capacitve load somewhere in the 100pF to 400pF range. On the low end (0pF setting) you could get in the range based on tonearm and interconnect capacitance, but what about all the cartridges that are optimized for loads between 150 and 400pF. It would seem this phono stage won't support them - and that's a big chunk of the new and vintage MM/MI carts available.

Am I missing something here?

Just purchased one on eBay and I can confirm this is an outstanding phono pre, just connected to my Well Tempered Lab Turntable and I'm jaw on the floor stunned.

Spinning one of my wife's favorite artists this album has some great SQ and a special place in my heart, I've really never heard it before it seems it sounds so great.
