I don't believe so. The y5f motor does not have the gear for driving the f4's auto mechanism.

It might be easier to find an entire QL-F4 that is in "sorta" or "not working" shape than to just try to hunt for the motor itself. You can use anything else on the donor unit for spare parts.

That’s what I will try to do. There are a few on eBay right now but they are priced higher than I want to pay for them. I’ll keep my eye out for a better deal. I appreciate your advice.

I replaced the rotor on the one I just sold because the speed pickup magnet was cracked in numerous places. It still worked but who knows how much longer it would have been until a chunk decided to depart it's home and chowder things up. I wouldn't be surprised if OP has the same issue. I've seen it on more than one table now.

Yeah, I have one of these and would like to know also. Seems like the biggest problem with these TTs is the failing capacitors and corrosive glue on the pcb, not motor failure.

I noticed a slight distortion of the sound of records when I played them. I think it may be described as a “wow”. When I manually turn the spindle on the motor, it spins smoothly for half a rotation then slows down for the other half. When I removed the motor and spun it, I could hear a rubbing sound for the bad half of the rotation. I do not know the cause of this. Maybe one of you do?Check with forum sponsor :

Could be damage to that magnet ring I mentioned, could be something damaged in the bearing. The motor is very easy to remove and disassemble on these. Since it's already not functioning properly you're not risking much in pulling it to investigate.

I’m not sure how to disassemble it. I have the motor removed and I removed the 4 small screws. Nothing wants to budge. What would be my next step? In the photo, I am pointing to where the screws were.

I got it apart. Here are some pictures.

Hmmm. Your primary magnet looks to be rubbing, see the wear? The FG magnet is starting to go but doesn't look too be the problem. Is the big heavy magnet loose in any way? You can see theres matching rub marks on both it and the PCB.
Could you still feel the issue with the motor removed? I'm thinking your thrust bearing got smooshed at some point and your rotor is simply riding too low. Another possibility is that it got whacked and isn't riding flat anymore. If you spin it by hand can you see any vertical run-out?

The big magnet is not loose at all. I could still feel the issue with the motor removed. I think it was knocked out of whack before I bought it and I just started noticing it now. I will be keeping my eye out for a replacement.
Does the edge of the rotor wobble up and down visibly at all? The fact that it only runs part of the way around makes me think something isn't straight anymore. If not, you might try finding a piece of delrin like 0.050" thick of the right diameter to slip down the bearing well to shim the whole thing up a bit. Could get it functional again while you search for a replacement.

Thank you all for the advice. I am going to use my spare turntable for now and will wait to find a QL-F4 at a reasonable price to use for parts. Cheers!
