@KevinB If it's not too much of a hassle, can you check by simulating the video I posted if your pump sucks as little as mine?
I replicated your test. Thing to keep in mind, as mentioned before, the TS won’t fatten severely warp records, even mildly warped.

That said, with a flat record, it holds it quite firmly.

@best-groove , I watched your video, your TS is making some interesting noises. My TS is extremely quiet.

@KevinB Thank you very much for your check (I saw the video), my engine is very quiet but the connected tube makes a whirling noise that I thought was normal....it seems to me that the vacuum of your TS1 sucks much more than mine; I will have to review the whole sealing system a little and yet even the rubber that surrounds the engine has been dismantled, cleaned of the old dried glue and sealed hermetically.
 
Make sure you verify that the flat, rubber seal is installed on the connector that attaches to the TS. I have had a few show up missing that.

The video that I had already made and that I could not upload to the forum, has the first part made with the hose sucking a piece of paper, the sameas in your video.
Then, I shown the way as the platter must be installed in the main shaft, and also the particularity of its special mat.
After that, the turning on of the pump and so on.
The video was uploaded to a my son's account in youtube, and here is the link.
Somewhere, I have a manometer, just for the pressure range of the turntables pumps, like those from Micro Seiki and Luxman. Some day, I will search it for to measure the TS1 pump. I have used it precisely for that purpose, several years ago.

Hope you don’t mind me sharing, I have been a fan of Victor Tables for a long time. I spent a long time gathering the parts for my TT-801 setup and it is finally “done”. Fair amount of work refinishing the plinth and the rebuilding the drive but it was worth it.

I have acquired a number of these tables because they are just awesome sounding decks.

Thank you KevinB. Sometime. I have used a couple of EAT 300B. Very good product. I will see the E.A.T. C-Note model, as they have a 10” version. A very suitable length for my others Victor/JVC tables. (TT-71, TT-81 and the TT-101)

Unfortunately I can not do the check with the original mat as it was compromised and aged irremediably with many cracks, it could no longer be used.

I included a picture of the gasket I referenced. Also, check your hose and table for any insect nests. I had one of my TS hoses blocked by a spider nest :(

KevinB; Thank you for your picture. Mine haves its rubber seal. I also have checked that the hose is internally clean and unobstructed.

An important thing; I'm powering the pump and turntable with exactly 100Vac, 50Hz. Not using a typical 220/115 V transformer. I use a dedicated 100V autotransformer for my Japanese stuff.

It is not a good idea to have permanently stressed the 100V devices with 10% or worse 15% more.

Anyway, I will do an overhaul to my pumps, soon (Victor and Micro Seiki). They had a long, long time out of use in my cellar. Fortunately, in a cool and very dry environment. (very good for the wines, too...)

I think so, because of the suction power seen in the videos, as you said. Anyway, I have shown that the disc is firmly attached to the mat and it goes back to the mat with power, when I detach it from the mat with my finger. Surely, with more suction power, the noise level could be greater, also.
 
Couple of tips I did that may have helped my suction on my unit. First, When I re-assembled the rubber pump baffle, I added RTV sealant to the areas show in red. I applied the sealant and then laid it on a flat surface to cure, I then did the final seal of the perimeter.

Also, make sure that the foam "filter" that is locate in the area shown by the red box is clean. If that is dirty or clogged, it will prevent air from escaping and you will have no suction.

Hi, my maintenance that took place a year ago included:

removing all the old glue from the rubber container....

to new block the rubber shell to the fan frame I used a double-sided gasket (similar to those used to assemble cell phone glass but higher) and in addition I sealed the entire edge for extra safety on the outside with a black neutral sealant (photo #2) and I am very sure that since everything is airtight no air leaks.

I also went over (photo #3) all the internal joints of the wooden container with vinyl glue and applied a new neoprene gasket where the cabinet's closing cover should be placed; I am sure I did an excellent job and yet the rather weak suction had given me doubts.

I tried to get the TT-101 to work but it appears after much parts-changing, that a Nippon Semiconductor IC named NPC SC3042 is gone. When on trip in Japn recently, i thought i try the specialist shops in Akihabara. But even the ones known for piles of old stock shrugged shoulders or shook heads (try Akizuki and Sengoku, if you are on the hunt for someting unobtanium).

Anyone here who knows of remaining stock? The chip was also used in the TT-81, hence i did not suspect this silicon is that uncommon.

All pointers welcome!

I bought a QL- Y5F for $60 two years ago, best bargain I ever got. The servo arm tables are amazing. I can track my Demon DL- 103 at 1 gram without any problems. I've tracked a ADC XLM at .5 gram also. They'll have to pry this sucker out of my cold dead hands when I die.

Why "appears" to have failed? There shouldn't be any ambiguity there.
 
Howdy everyone. Just recently acquired a QL-10. I'm still reading through this thread for any info I may gleam from it but I also started my own thread for it's restoration here with questions:
JVC QL-10 restoration

I got this with it's original box and the label on it makes me believe it was purchased in the States.
I look forward to bringing mine back to service. I have a new 5 pin din tonearm cable arriving next week and have many carts to choose from to try out on the Victor 7045. I'm still deciding if I want to source and buy an original Victor headshell or not.1000018350.jpg
