These must be the ones in Colchester on our local craiglist? I see he was asking $80 which I thought was too high. $60 is better for sure but I still wouldn't classify it as "a good buy"

if they both are original and work,i would jump on them

Yeah, me too. The Model Sixes are wonderful vintage speakers, though I haven't heard the 32s. It's not a "score" perhaps, but if you check out the speakers and they're in good shape, you'll be very happy. Good luck!

You can break it down 30/30 or 40/20. Either way given the speakers involved I think it is a good deal assuming all drivers are original and the cabinets are in good shape.

So something has to be a score to make it worthwhile? I think that's an excellent price, fair for both parties, if all is working well.

I had two pair of sixes...and one sounded way better than the other and I couldn't figure out why until I opened them up and realized a pair had been recapped by a previous owner. It was noticeable more 'alive' and clear on the top end.

The 32 is a very nice sounding smaller speaker (smaller in context to the 6). Excellent on tube amps (both are, actaully) but also opens up on high wattage. They're really nice speakers to just sit back and listen to without worrying too much about how they're making such a nice sound. Ugly as sin without the grills on.

I agree. All too often when someone asks about value it seems there are always some who look at is as a "score" or not. Like if it's not a steal, don't buy them.

The price is reasonable if both pairs are in working condition even if they need a little work. I think the Model 6's are worth that much. Read some owners comments on the KLH Model 6's.

I just picked up a pair of Model 5's in great condition without the original woofers (replaced) and I paid $50 for the pair. I'm happy with the price and plan on spending another $100 for original drivers and recapping. The old KLH's are very nice speakers and will be well worth the $150 I'll have in them.

They've been on craigs for quite a spell so I guess I'm not quite alone in thinking this isn't a great deal. Did you get them?

I agree seems like a fair price for two pair of speakers. I have not heard these but from what others say they are decent. Let us see some photos after you get them.

Depends on the condition. If the cabinets, grills and drivers are in good shape, plus the crossovers have been recapped, $60 for both is a decent price. I'd pay $30 for the KLH 6s and leave the 32s behind as long as the size difference is not important.

If the crossovers have not been recapped, I think you are looking at about $20-30 to remedy that, but am going on memory.

If you get the Sixes, try to track down a simple stand that will get them off the floor a bit, and even better, angled back slightly. They sounded great like that, to me.

OK,I'm going to pick them up tomorrow.I'll post some pics, and let you know of the condition.

I'm glad you decided to go for them. The Sixes are very much worth $60, even if you have to fix them up a bit. And let's hope they're later speakers and not sealed ones. =/

That is something to be aware of...some of the early Sixes had the woofers glued to the baffles, and it's nearly impossible to get in them to fix something or recap them. Not impossible, but i believe it means cutting into the cabinet from the back if I'm not mistaken. And these being the older ones, they might be further out of spec or suffer more problems (often a bad cap leads to the loss of tweeter output).

But if they're working..not a bad deal at all. I still think the 32s are a nice sounding speaker as well. I paid $10 for my first pair of Sixes, and 60 for my second, I was very happy to pay the latter price after knowing what my first pair sounded like, because the second pair were much better cosmetically.
