I haven't messed with mine in probably 3-4 weeks; went to pull one off today and half the velcro tabs (probably the same ones I glued back on) stayed on the baffle.

Use super glue.
 
Hey,

I use Amazing GOOP and put 1/4" staples in my staple gun. Glue and a mechanical fastener. I've been wanting to try using rare earth magnets too, haven't yet.

Thanks beatcomber! I'm quite pleased with the outcome considering the condition it was in. Not sure when I'll get started on the 2nd cab. Have a big freelance project, keeping me from working on these. Hopefully back to it in a week or two.

I just replaced the cap in the 2nd speaker, and will start sanding it to prep for the veneer work. This one is not as bad as the first.

Holy **** that looks awesome!!!! Keep up the be great work, looks like your getting damn good at doing these!! These threads are a Great motivator for people who have these project and are too afraid to dig into them, thanks for sharing!! So shocking to see before and after pics, you've got a knack for restoring them!!! Main question is....how do they sound???

First, thank you! Secondly, documenting these projects shows it's not that hard to do, and hopefully others will dive in and save another great set of speakers.

Sonically, these are great sounding speakers. They go very deep, have great highs and imaging, but not fatigueing, you can listen for hours. Classic east coast sound. They share the same woofer as the model Five and can take a good amount of power. Some say these are model Six's on steroids. If you are able to get a pair of these, you will be a happy camper.

Had some time today

Finally got the 2nd cab sanded as well as the Time Windows, (seperate thread).

Took about 1 1/2 hours total.
This cab is not as bad as the first and hope it will go a bit quicker for the repairs.

Thanks! These always look better after sanding, starting with a clean slate!
Not sure what that stain is. The tweeter was pretty clean when I pulled it. I'll give it a wipe see if it comes off.

This summer is flying by, been one of our busiest, not giving me much time lately to play with my audio toys. It felt good to get some time withy these and the TW's.

I've been busy too. My step-son was here for 6 weeks working a job, he's gone now though. But I'm still mostly unemployed and my boys are off doing other things now, so I've got more time than most of us to play with things.

I just finished an initial impression on the W70's and am heading over to lay it down. Now I can get back to the Trusonics and the one 1957 University.

Not quite sure yet. The highs and mids cause you to stop breathing and go agape, at least with the Louis Armstrong. It's the lower frequencies I'm having some issues with. The surrounds may be a little stiff, need to play with placement. That was a pre initial audition I had, there's more to come.

Some progress

Finally had some time to finished one of the corners. Very happy with the result. Takes a while going through the veneer pieces trying to find close grain & color matches to the repair area.

like to see another Westchesterian (although I'm a transplant, and i made that word up) that likes this stuff....there doesn't seem to be many of us...
