I need speaker tech in los angeles. I live on the westside. I have a set of KLH model 5's and I need them recapped and shaped back up so they sing for me. Anyone know someone reliable in LA (preferably the westside)? Thanks folks!

You could reverse-engineer the layout by taking the values from all of the capacitors and resistors, taking lots of photos, and do it yourself. I've done several boards over the years, it's not difficult. When you get done and they sing for you, it's highly rewarding (at least it has been for me). The low-pass coil almost never needs to be replaced. The solution for sealing the surrounds is available on line.

I would love to take it on myself. I just do not have the time. Maybe someday in the future but my professional life has taken a few crazy turns lately. I appreciate your suggestion though!

There is Speaker City over the hills in Burbank on Victory Blvd. Their website doesn't even list their street address! Crikey! I've used them to do woofer refoaming and they do an excellent job, but it's not inexpensive.

I'm sure there are speaker repair businesses located in Santa Monica, Mar Vista, or Venice but they sure do a lousy job of making them findable (new word!) in an internet search. Bring up the Los Angeles version of CraigsList on your computer and do a search for speaker repair, woofer repair, or speaker service to see if anything pops up. Good luck.
