Estes Park Colorado about 12 years ago with a botl Pentax.
Cheap film, bad settings, crappy scanner, rotten compression...
...lousy parking job, I missed the welcome center parking lot by miles.
This happened to me all the time before GPS.

Spent a lot of time in that area of the country when I was young. My parents and many generations before lived in a small town called Fries (pronounced "freeze") and the surrounding mountains. Still have relatives in that area that I visit.

Fries is south of where I live. I live in Staunton, which is 90 miles south of Winchester, 90 miles north of Roanoke and about 45 miles west of Charlottesville. It is at the junction of I 81 and I 64. Beautiful country around here.

Thanks to our nutty weather...hot one day...pouring rain the next...then freezing, most of the trees around here dumped their leaves rather than make a colorful change. The neighbor's two trees managed for the most part to hang on and were really pretty this morning.

3rd largest California Bay Tree at a open space preserve, a mile or two from me. There are 1000s of bay tree just in this park alone. Probably 100s of thousands in the Bay Area. So why is it they sell couple of bay leaves in a jar at the supermarket for a couple of bucks? Makes great soup and stews!
