Lava Lamps

I had an original in the late 60's, maybe early 70's (who remembers??). I was always disappointed that you could only run them for awhile before the globs of wax would start breaking up into less interesting shapes. Still, I've thought about getting a modern one but I mostly prefer Tiffany shade lamps these days (repros of course).

Picked this up last week filthy. Cleaned it up, found a cheap bulb supplier (12v 8w 4.98 shipped) and turned it on last night. The fibers are a bit tired so I need to grab some clear rubber bands to replace the black ones I used.

When I first found these crazy bulbs it looked like the cost would be around 15 bucks shipped for one. I finally found one on Amazon cheap. I have one more light I'm looking for and then I can totally psych-out man.

I have a GE Telechron clock, and a pole lamp, an 8-track player and tapes, a couple of Super8 cameras and a projector, and a couple of tubed clock-radios around here someplace. I need a beanbag, a shag carpet, and a lava lamp too. A flood took the Zenith Transoceanic and Webcor wire recorder years ago.
