Found a Starship Lava Lamp today. $6 from TS. Wax is flowing. Adding to the fun here. :)

Excellent. I found just the same model last year, but it sports a sparkly blue lamp, not lava. I believed it's not original but after seeing yours tells me maybe it is. Same shape. I'll post some pics later. I have so many lamps now. I found another one yesterday. I just keep buying them if they're different. I found a Grande Lava Lamp last week. 27" tall. It's grande!!!

For any audiophile posting on the internet, owning at least one Lava Lamp is the law. Bonus points for a Nipper in the room as well.
Beatle photographs seem to be another requirement but you get extra credit if you have a Bob Marley photo instead.

Not considering myself a true audiophile, just a passionate music lover, I only own one Lava Lamp.

I have 3 lava lamps of various colours but have not been able to find a Nipper for my music room, although I do have a framed pic of John Lennon in a New York T-shirt hanging over my CD collection. ;)

@Man in Cave

Pull the top fixture off (not the cap). Check to see what's written on the cap.

At first, I thought the lamp was a cheap knock-off. Later at home, I took the top black piece off to clean up the dust, etc. There on the white bottle cap, was written Lava Lamp (logo) in red.

I bought a lava lamp in the early 80's after wanting one since they came out. Unfortunately, the lava didn't flow any more. I kept it for years (with a cracked top) hoping to find out how to bring it back to life, eventually I got rid of it. Then the internet came, and one day when I was bored googled lava lamps and found lots of formulas to get the lava flowing again. Since that day I've regretted disposing of my lamp. However, since those days I've also acquired MrsFeline, who I don't think would value a lava lamp as much as I would. I would prefer to have MrsFeline and to go without a lava lamp, but that doesn't stop me drooling over these pics of lamps.

Last summer I went to a yard sale 6 blocks from my house. The guy holding the sale worked at Lava Lamp HQ in Chicago (which I once visited in the '80s) and he had a LOT of Lava lamps.
He said the key to longevity is to not leave them on all the time. They aren't designed for that, and the waxy stuff changes composition if exposed to constant heat over a long period of time.
