Lepai 2020A speaker pop remedy?

Got on of the new ones that supposedly has some sort of relay to prevent the popping, but it still pops at on and off. Where should I look for the culprit? Output capacitors? Thanks!

Make sure the capacitors are new. I have two and they both have different capacitors in them. Some of them look like they are old scrap capacitors that should have been recycled.

Also check the solder. One of mine had a bad ground connection on the RCA inputs.

Might be worth trying a disc cap across the power switch to keep it from arcing. I have one and it does the same thing, but I haven't actually attempted to do anything about it.

I read that replacing the main cap on the board with higher value will help (smaller cap = instant-off "pop" whereas big cap keeps amp powered and bleeds off power slowly).

I upped the cpacitance on one of my 2020's and don't notice the pop any more (but have not done an actual 'test" of it as it powers different speakers than before the swap).

Why not embrace the "pop" as it's confirmation that it's turned on and working?

I've got the new Lepai along with a Topping, Dayton and Sure and they all pop and so do my tube amps.

I even replaced the main power cap in mine with a larger one, and it still pops just a bit. It's no big deal really, it definitely isn't strong enough to do any damage. They use practically no power at idle. You could just leave it on 24/7.

Oddly, neither of my two SMSL amps pop. I'm running a little hybrid tube preamp in front of them, and maybe that's why?
