Looking for some bass

Just think big.
While a response like this is not quite what I was looking for, I've learned this is not always true. Lots of kabuki Sansui's,etc are big but have very little bass impact. So come on, give me some recommendations that will shake my foundations and rattle my windows.

I remember hearing these NHT at Audio King in Cedar Rapids, Ia in the late 90s. Very nice indeed. They also had some Martin Logans there, too. Different sounding speakers. Both had strengths. sorry to get off topic...NHT 3.3's have bass to die for and unlike CV's they are not party speakers. They will sound very good and go quite loud. They're right up there with the best "Monkey Coffins" I've ever heard.

And please define what constitutes "inexpensive".
I mention that as often one man's inexpensive is the next guy's ridiculously expensive.
If you're talking new you're gonna have a tough time finding speakers like this for what most consider "inexpensive" anymore.
Now if we're talking used it's a bit different story,but then you have the issues of sourcing them locally or shipping them.
And that can be a whole other can-O-worms...

No, not at all...on the NHT 3.3!
Used. I looking for brands/models to keep eyes open for when surfing craigslist or GW. Options here are limited.

Nope! They are IMO/IME one of the few reasonably priced and sized speakers that don't need a subwoofer. AR-9's are in the same category. Either needs some real power to sound it's best.
Look out for DCM KX-12. Comparable bass to the 3 12" models of CV I owned. Actually liked the DCM a little better - mid is top mounted. They can be found cheaper than CVs. Sold my DCMs & a pair of CV DX-7 to the same buyer. He came after the CVs - I tried to talk him into the DCMs but he had CVs in the past. He ended up buying both after hearing the DCMs - CVs at 3 times the money. Next day he calls saying somethings wrong with CVs & wants money back LOL!

Klipsch KG3.2, impressive bass for their size. When I auditioned them for my brother in law he asked me to turn off my twin 12" subs.......they weren't on lol.

I have their smaller siblings, the 2.9. They don't dig quite as deep, by about 4dB. I admire them, great for bass and dynamics, lots of detail and good imaging — but they leave me a bit cold. They don't do soul, for lack of technical term. Billie Holiday sounds magnificent, but I never sense she carried some pain.NHT 3.3's have bass to die for and unlike CV's they are not party speakers. I recommend that you keep on the lookout and audition a pair of Pioneer HPM-100's or maybe a pair of Klipsch Cornwall's. There are more than a few speakers that should meet your needs, but your budget and availability will dictate the choice. Good luck.
