Looking for some bass

I still have my original Realistic Mach 1's (4024 bought in 1977) in mint condition. Never replaced anything and they still "ROCK". Plenty of BASS! I use them for Music and Watching Movies and NASCAR. They still pound the house when I want them to. In my opinion, they are the best speakers made for home, even though they were made from Radio Shack. I have them placed on their side above my Wall unit I made back in 1980. No sign of wear on the Walnut case.

Welcome to AK. It would be nice to see your wall unit. Glad to hear you're happy with the Mach for so long. I too have the 4024.

Bass is relative to the person who is in front of the speakers and is aware to what bass is - from his personnal perception and experience.
There is the '' 100Hz '' bump bass and there is the '' emotionnal '' bass, felt thru the 20's hertz

Pretty much the best bass lines I've ever heard..

I have some DMC KX12 speakers mentioned in this thread. I wasn't impressed when I looked inside and they look like they wouldn't sound very good, almost look like white van speakers. Got them on CL with a receiver, he didn't want to get of them but his wife didn't like them. Once I hooked them up, I was surprised, they do sound pretty good. To me they sound like my 1977 Advents but need less power and have more mid-range than the Advents. In fact I was using the Advents for about a year, brought the DMCs home and hooked them up, the DMC KX12 speakers are still hooked up to that receiver.
