While I haven't heard your set-up myself (yet), we have enough people on this forum whom I trust and who have heard it (and shared their amazement with us.)

Frankly, when I look at the huge number of speakers (of all size and types) in that other room, I have to wonder how on earth they could integrate and image properly. Perhaps it does not matter if all you care about is to shock and awe people with surround movie sound and effects, but I can't imagine myself enjoying the music I like in that environment. More is not necessarily better.

Your room, on the other hand, I could be happily locked in for a few days :-).

I have not been to Ivan's either, but I have seen pictures of both his setup and the Kipnis Studio and it is no contest. Ivan has a clean tasteful install that would be acceptable to almost anyone (certainly given the quantity of equipment). The Kipnis Studio is a visual mess with all of the equipment spread out on the floor. I can't imagine someone wanting this look in their theater other than for bragging rights. That said it is an impressive collection of equipment.

There are many options available for making the emphasis of a room the sound and/or video versus making the equipment the focal point.
 
You see all those pics (the same ones published in Home Theater mag several months ago), there are no interconnects shown. They removed them all to get rid of the clutter :)

Ivan wins. Solid state + mac speakers = glorious. Snell ain't bad, but seriously...
 
Running, and organizing in an orderly fashion the cabling requirements for all 32 amps would have be fun.....:scratch2:

I am a Mac tube fan, but I agree way OVERKILL! And Imagine all the interconnects spread around. HOLY S##T!! I would think he probably has some unique way to "hide" the interconnects.... under the floor perhaps??

If you see the HTmag pics, there are no power cords or IC's connected to any rear of amp or speaker. But yes, I believe they have to go sub-floor from the amp or else it would be an absolute nightmare.
 
I find it impossible to compare systems that I have not seen in person or heard in person. Visual appeal is far too subjective of an opinion to matter more than being counted in some fictitious vote tally. Once you move toward a discussion on visual attributes of a particular HT room, you have to include carpet style and color, wall treatments, wood selection and stain, lighting fixtures, seating design, seating positioning, seating color, and seating material, as well as etc. etc. etc.

Suffice it to say that both of these HT's represent a passionate pursuit of excellence that encompasses a volume of choices that delve into "collector status" more than just performance results.

Ivan, were you actually worried??? :D Who cares what others have.:dunno: I never lose any sleep over those things and I am sure you don't either. :smoke:

What me worry? Never happen, actually I was honored to be along side of the Kipnis Studio system. I think he spent about $6M...
