.Maybe not.....rlrct said:"... for the masses ..." - that doesn't strike me as McIntosh's target market.
Welcome to high end audio. There is no justification, only the rule of diminishing returns. In many cases just because a product is more expensive doesn't mean it is better. Maybe not in the case of C1000 but if you read the review of the Zanden CD player, the most expensive CD player in the world in last issue of Stereophile, you will see that it measured as one of the worst DACs they have come across. The reviewer said it was excellent while the measurements were very poor at best. I got a good chuckle out of that one.So ..if say..I'm getting 90% of what the C1000 is capable of in the C100, then please justify to me a 400% increase in price for only 10% more performance.

It's funny, because my new wife squinted her eyes a bit when I brought home my LS360's a few years back, but she KNEW I was obsessed when we hooked up.jrsystems said:What I want that my wife won't let me buy: Three MC501's and an MDA1000.
What I want that McIntosh won't sell: An MSxxx with USB for additional hard drives, MCD201 DAC, and balanced outputs (have I mentioned this before?)

I remember we set them up in the basement and had the boxes on the main floor. She had a friend over that looked at the boxes and asked her "did you buy 2 new fridges"? HAHAHA
Women...gotta love 'em.
