IIRC it will read Astro-Sonic on the glass tuner plate. All Astro-Sonics are solid state.

99% sure it is tube. The model# you provided really only tells the cabinet style. Impossible to say what amp is in it without having a look or a pic with the back removed.

Don't believe everything Google "sez", my friend Magnavox did not (or practically any other manufacturer) make a solid state console in 1962. Generally speaking for the consumer market, solid state did not make it into main stream production with Magnavox consoles and most others until about 65-66 ish. Your statement, "All Astro-Sonics are solid state", is also incorrect, sir. A lot, or even most of them are, but not ALL of them. The Astro-Sonic first came out in the early 60's before solid state really started to take a foot hold. Some of the older ones are tube and if you are lucky enough to find a tube powered unit in good shape for a good price, I would snag it up....even if in bad shape.

I've never seen the use of HIGH FIDELITY on any solid state consoles only TUBE Consoles Labeled above turn table on this unit..

Yes, please. Post pics when you pop the hood open on it. And whatever you do, do not power it up until you have a good look at it. Or if your curiosity gets the best of you like mine always does, power it up slowly with a variac and listen/watch carefully to see if gives the magic genie smoke. Even then only have it powered up for a min or two. A recap job will be the first order of business

It could also be one of the hybrids. I ran into one that looked a lot like that one.
It had a tube tuner/preamp, and a SS amp.
