Mains cables...

I might have confused you in that post contains quotes from both you and Dave Voorhis. The first quotes you while the second quotes DV.

It is that Dave to whom I was addressing the observation.

I realized that some minutes later Mr. Stat, Sir. :)

What has that to do with vinegar on chips?
This has gone so much off topic.

By the way in the chippy its known as non brewed condiment.

You live in an imaginary world where facts don't exist - just your uninformed speculation devoid of real world experience. In small companies like Pass Labs and VTL, there is no "marketing department". There's one guy named Joe Sammut. Nelson Pass writes the manuals at Pass as does Bea Lamm (Luke Manley's wife) at VTL.

Feel free to live in a world driven by speculation alone. My question is the same as Rusty's. ;)

Thanks for the grins, Dave. Must be dinner time there across the pond.
When I suggested that I would welcome counterarguments based on electronics and physics but not marketing, I wasn't intending to invite attempts at counterargument based on arm-waving and ad hominems.

No matter who is writing the marketing copy, it is marketing copy -- as it's clearly intended purely for marketing purposes -- and not a sensible description of real-world electronics (with which I do have some experience.)

Post #180 demonstrates you don't know what you don't know. Nor have provided any *evidence* to your speculation other than hand waving.

In the absence of experiencing high performance audio gear, believe whatever armchair speculations you please. :)

These aren't armchair speculations. They're based on my understanding of the relevant electronics.

Again, if you have counterarguments based on electronics, physics, or mathematics, I'd be delighted to hear them. If I'm wrong, I would welcome the opportunity to be corrected and thus learn more.

Otherwise, this debate is unproductive, because I'm stating my position based on my understanding of electronics, whilst you're stating your position based on what appears to be your understanding of marketing materials.

I do appreciate that you find preamplifiers with higher capacity power supplies to sound better than preamplifiers with lower capacity power supplies, but that isn't any indication that the higher capacity power supply is sonically superior, unless you've conducted appropriately controlled listening tests with the same preamplifier using both high and low capacity power supplies.

"Understanding of relevant electronics"? Too funny, Dave.

That's the problem! Your omniscience is lacking.

Tell us all about what you've never heard. :)

Maybe sometime you'll actually be able to experience what others have. Get back with us when your opinion is based upon empirical evidence vs. theory, aka "your understanding". Your fact-free, experience-free posts border on the absurd.

Enjoy your evening!

How is it absurd?

Could you explain the difference in output waveform for a given input waveform in a particular preamplifier -- using a 100,000mfd filter capacitor and then a 10,000mfd filter capacitor -- in terms of electronics rather than subjective impressions?

A preamplifier doesn't need a large power reservoir, because it's not handling large power loads. What is needed is adequate regulation of the low-current power supplies. The best thing to do this is a good, low noise voltage regulator.
Another experience-free post. Your theory is lacking. Like that of mediocre high feedback op amps.

The good news for music lovers is far better exists from multiple companies around the world.

At least Dave is trying. It's like the Moonies - at least Dave got to the point where he's being shunned. I'm still way back on the other side of the street.

Remind me what your electronic design experience is.
That's like asking Lewis Hamilton what engineering experience he has.

You're asking the wrong question. The proof is in the listening. Which ironically seems to be a foreign concept to you.

I'm sure you're all about useless metrics like THD! You and Dave can compare your textbooks and commiserate about how things should sound on paper. ;)

Taking on the Captain? Way, way over your head E-Stat. Let it go in the interests of peace and goodwill towards men.

We all know how silly cable discussions always end- two sides, one rooted in facts, testing and engineering, the other side true believers. No man's land in the middle. Trench warfare where everyone loses.:)
