I was Googling “class A receiver” and a link to eBay came up and it was listed as “fisher class A1 receiver 400 watts”. I said “Holy Hell !!”, well not really “Hell”. No watchers or bidders. Local pickup , very very low starting bid. I waited till last minute and bid and Won!!! I was the only bidder. Talk about lucky day!! Drove 150 miles to Ohio to pick it up. The gentleman was not an audiophile and was just unloading stuff he had in temperature controlled storage for over 10 years. I couldn’t sleep the night before the auction was over. I was constantly checking for bidders or watchers. In Heaven now. I think I have listened to it non-stop since buying it a few weeks ago. From what I have been researching, this may be 1 of only 3 working models in the United States.

Wow that damping Factor!!

I loved the Yamahas of the 1980s. My baby was a Yamaha CR 1040 until local stereo repair shop repaired blown output stage. Never sounded the same and I ended up selling it close to nothing. It was my favorite natural sounding piece of all time. It was natural sounding until shop “fixed” it.

I loved the Yamahas of the 1980s. My baby was a Yamaha CR 1040 until local stereo repair shop repaired blown output stage. Never sounded the same and I ended up selling it close to nothing. It was my favorite natural sounding piece of all time. It was natural sounding until shop “fixed” it.

Man that stinks about your CR. It seems hard to find a good tech these days, especially locally.
I dig all Yamaha for the looks but especially for the sound. Their house sound did change a bit over the years but it's always been to my liking.
