Marantz 2230 Varistor replacement

While re-capping my Marantz 2230 P750 board, the varistor H005 (su-3a) wire broke off. Since this particular part (#HV0000212) isn't made anymore, what is an acceptable replacement?

Welcome to AK! This thread discusses replacements. It also mentions repair of the SV-3A (the service manual mistakenly calls it a SU-3A) by markthefixer.

In short, you remove enough material to expose 1mm (if you are lucky) of the stub of the lead. Solder the lead to the stub. Then put some JBWeld around the solder area to stabilize the lead and give it a little strength.

I've done this repair a few times using an X-acto knife. I have a nifty scar from one time, meaning be careful. A variable speed Dremel may be safer.
