Marantz Transistor/Diode/Trimmer Sub Guide

To look for yourself, go to mouser.com, enter the transistor in the search option. For both transistors, you will see two choices. One choice has N/A. The other will be FTA for the 1845 and YTA for the 1815. If you click on the available transistor, you will see a link to the data sheet. Like Mike said, they show some other gain options, but they are not available through the big resellers.
 
I understand that there are a few transistors that are replaced without question, like 945's, 458's - but are there any diodes that should automatically be replaced too?
 
I found the Varistor S3016R in the list, it has a diode replacement listed as 1N4448, is it supposed to be 1N4148?

By the way, my last job used only the 1N4148 diode in that size as an audio manufacturer and then the very common 1N4001 until class D came along in our line then some schottky one.

Hmmm. I wonder if I should make 1N4001 sub 2? I only made room for two subs. Which two do you think would be best?

Glad they are helpful. My motivation was mostly selfish. I just hated having to stop a project and go do the research to find a sub. Doing it all at once, I just kind of got a system going. I searched every stereo amp/receiver service manual parts list for transistors and diodes, and put them on a spreadsheet. Then I did a google search for data sheets on each one to get Vce, Ic and package. Then I did an AK search on every one to see if subs had been recommended. If the recommendation looked good or was repeated often I kept it. Then I looked up specs on all of the subs. It sounds like a lot, but once started, it moved along pretty well, and took about three days to finish. It was worth it. I won’t have to look up this group for subs again. And it made it more satisfying knowing it would be helpful to others on the forum.
 
I made a few corrections and added a couple of transistors, including 2SA484 and 2SC959. I added the date to the header so you can always tell if your list is up to date. So, it's probably worthwhile to download the newest file from the updated links in post #1, and also to check back now and then to see if the list has been updated.

I'm really not sure. I think it would help a lot of people if it didn't disappear. And I will be refining it over time as I get suggestions for better subs or just become aware of outright errors or omissions.
