MC 30 knob?

Did the MC 30 use a knob for the gain pot? I have an original ad for it and it shows no knob. I have the knob manual and it does not list the MC 30, but do list the MC 40. I'd like to use a knob, but want it to look correct, or close. John

No knobs on mine-- both are early versions.

I thought the same thing after I saw some on a pair of MC-75s, but I eventually came to appreciate the fact that I'd never have to worry about replacing them! :D

No knob on either of my 30s. My first was given to me by the original owner back in the '60s. I'm reasonably sure it is original.

John, I picked up a few 1/2" bakelite (or plastic, I guess) knobs at my local Ace Hardware, from their bits n' parts section. Not sure if there was an original, but these look right to me.

You can just see them in this picture:

Yes Redboy, that looks about period. I think the originals were knurled and my replacements are smooth. I have a Cary Audio knob on them now, but thought a vintage Mac one might look better. John

Same ones that are on the MC-225s. Your pots will need knurled/split shafts, IIRC, to receive them.

Cheers,

David
