Mcintosh Int amp question

I was wondering if the new Mcintosh turntable will work with a Mcintosh MA-2275 or MA-7000. I know both are setup for mm cartridges and the turntable comes with a MC cartridge. Any help, thanks

not sure what the output of the cartridge is but you would need a step up transformer for the Mc Turntable to work with the MM sections in the MA2275 or MA7000

I don't see why it would not work. It may not go very loud though.

I once heard a Dynavector DV DRT XV-1s cart (with an output of 0.3mV) (which is 0.2mV less than the cart on the MT-10) with the MX135 mm phono preamp and it sounded great.

Get with John at bentaudio -- he makes an outrageous SUT -- was planning to buy one on his next production run -- but sold the MA2275 & ended up with a MT10 thru a C2300/MC275 setup.

Yes. The cartridge is a high output moving coil -.5v. It should be fine with any

Hmmmm, MT10 + C2300 = Great Partners ... even the Owner's manual seem to say so ........ I like this combo more & more .......... :thmbsp: :thmbsp: :thmbsp:

The MT10 comes with a low output moving coil cartridge. This was designed with the C2300, C500 and C1000 in mind.
You could of course mount a high output MC or MM cartridge on the MT10 and use it with any McIntosh MM phono section.

.5mv is far from a "high output" moving coil.

You'll need a step up transformer, as mentioned, or an add on phono pre to get the most out that cartridge.

I have A MA2275 and have found the on board phono section to be good but nothing remarkable. If you're going to spend that kind of money on a turntable/cartridge set up, an external phono section is probably the best route to realize the full potential of the the investment.

I agree. I always used an outboard phono with my MA2275. However i did try the MM phono section of the MA2275 with a Golding 1042 and the results are very good - warm, musical and fun to listen to. This cartridge has a 6.5v output so the results are very quiet into a MM section. If you listen to vinyl casually, a good MM into the MA2275 be all you need. if you plan on getting the Mc turntable you will need an outboard phono (or one of new mc pres like the c2300 or c1000 to get the most of it).
