While searching my favorite GW's I found this.

Basic tt, MCS-2500. It needed the usual TLC. Works nicely.

Thanks, its a semi-auto model. I saw it on the shelf and had to go get some money to buy it. When I got back it was sill there.:thmbsp:

Should clean up nice.
Dust cover is VG.

Nice find! I'm sure yoiu already know this, but for those who might not...
JC Penney sold these... from all my recollection (and personal experience) these were mfd by Matsushita (Panasonic/Technics) for JCP. Its definately good stuff... alot of their mid 1980's stuff was nothing but rebadged Technics equipment (and typically black vs silver)... but this one looks like a late 80's early 90's unit... hard to say... i believe its Matsushita, but I dont recognize the TT layout.

Its probably a decent player and worth keeping if you have a kid/teen, etc, or even a friend who would like to get into vinyl.

Looking at the pic close up that "Frequency Generator Servo" is the give-away.. its the Technics "FG Servo" motor used in all technics belt drives from the 1980's and newer. Its a good TT, but those FG Servo motors have a useful life of about 10 years.. (replaced 2 of 'em in my 1985 SLBD1 that i bought new... first FG motor died in '96 and the second died in '06)

still, good gear.

10 years is OK..this one works fine so far, I oiled it and it is not noisey at all.
Just got the auto function working again..a new belt and she played fine.

I know, I almost walked away, then I took a closer look. Glad I did. it plays great! Has the R-1000 cart on it.

If you turn the platter over it might be stamped "Technics" . I have an MCS tt that is.
