Memorial Day

Hey, several people know me as Uncle Cliff, so I feel obligated to say a prayer for your Uncle Cliff. He sounds like a hell of a good guy. :thmbsp:

I was too busy being the black sheep of the family to get to know him personally outside of a few fishing trips.
He used to meet his buddies at Thompson Speedway in CT to drink beers & watch the cars go roundy-round.
When I was a teen he set a lit M-80 behind my ass when I was sitting on the picnic table at his house "under the weather" :smoke:
He was a giant hulk of an elevator-union repairman and had a tremendous laugh.
Especially that picnic table day or when he tossed one down a big sand shark's mouth and made a mess of his boat :D
He was an all around hot-schitt but I didn't realize that until he was gone and I was grown.

Being from a military family, we show the proper respect to the flag.
At the end of a duty day (5pm), military bases played "retreat" to lower the flag.
Everyone stopped, pedestrians and cars would face the flag/music and stand at attention.
The shown flag, weathered a storm and was retired.

There are cities that leave the flag up, 24/7, 365 days a year. The thing is all tattered and faded.

And we are not talking only poor neighborhoods, either.

Just don't raise a flag if you don't know how to handle and respect it.
