Mlb 2013

Well, hadn't had much to root for with the Dodgers this year, and with Kemp, then AJ Ellis, then Capuano all going on the DL, things looked pretty bleak. They were finally and practically forced to call up this New to the US rookie, Yasiel Puig, our $40 million dollar Cuban player.

Well, in two games, he's certainly lived up to his spring training hype. 5 for 8, including 2 home runs, 5 RBI's, a game winning put out, and some pretty decent outfield throwing. Many are hoping he's the next Mike Trout or Bo Jackson. Time will tell, but he's injected new fire and fun into the Dodger clubhouse and the fans.

You can see the video here at MLB Dodgers:

I saw that and thought that is real bad news for the Rockies and the rest of the NL West...and well, the NL. He will be fun to watch! Preston

I saw that too. Let's see how he continues to perform. But so far he sure seems to be very talented and athletic ball player. He will be fun to keep an eye on. Kids like this are great for baseball.

Way to go Tulo, Arenado, and Clutch Cargo. Fun game to watch.

No doubt the Rockies have the bats(need pitching)...Garland had a rough 1st inning. Seems he has settled in, hope he can hold on 'til the seventh and let the bullpen take over. Preston

Those two and the Rockies are on tonight...good to see the old man(Helton( have a good night at the plate. Now if the D'backs lose tonight:banana:. Preston

I just saw the worst umpiring call of the season so far when Nolan Arenado threw out the runner at first to complete a sensational double play by a good 20" in the top of the 12th, and the Rockies got robbed. Not even close, and a run scored against them.

Well, for 3 of the 4 games he's played in, Yaseil Puig is living up to his hype. He hit a hanging slider first pitch with the bases loaded over the opposite fence for a Grand Salami.

He's already surpassed Kemp for homers and has 9 RBI's in 4 games. Sure, its still early, and pitchers and scouts will figure how to pitch away from him. Hopefully, Puig will continue to learn and how to hit those pitches that he gets. I like how he's going with the pitch rather than trying to force the issue.

Should be very interesting from here on out for the Dodgers, least of which, what happens to the outfield once Kemp and Crawford are back, and what becomes of Ethier. Van Slyke is also showing that he belongs in the big leagues as well.

I checked out early on when Chacin lost it in the fourth...read about that call this AM, along with Corpas loading the bases in the 12th just before that crappy call. Preston

That run cost them the game in extra innings. It was an atrocious call.

They young man the Rockies picked 3rd overall in the MLB draft yesterday, pitcher Jonathon Gray of Oklahoma, is pitching for them in the NCAA Super Regionals against LSU, starting right now on ESPN. I'm going to check him out.

Cards at the Reds just started. Ought to be a great series with a lot of importance in the division. The Cards are 39-21 (best in MLB) and the Reds are only 3 games back. Exciting stuff!

Cards take game 1 against the Reds 9-2 pounding out 16 hits after getting 17 hits last night. Their offense has been very hot Hot HOT!

This is a couple days old, but did you guys see the 3-2-2 double play from the other night? I heard it on the radio, but the video is better. More a testament to boneheaded base-running than defensive prowess, IMHO. Heads up play by Avila regardless>

I saw this highlight the night that it happened, but it's still funny to watch again. The guy running from second to third ran on bat contact, and was dead rundown meat even if he turned back. By the time he might have seen the guy headed home turning back, it was too late. It took a pretty nifty play by Avila to tag him. It was pretty close.

I know OU ended up losing...what did you think of Gray?? Preston

He's a big, strong athletic kid. He pitched well, but OU got only two hits, and they were shut out. He can throw big heat, but doesn't have to all the time because he's already learning to mix up his pitches. You can't teach 6-4 and 240 lbs. The rest he can hopefully learn in time.

I listen to the KOA, Dave Logan Show. He's had several guests, MLB pitchers, that have said Coors Field, altitude, is a real issue.

Pitchers have to change their mechanics to get the movement on the ball for the pitches. Visiting pitchers can do this without much fatigue and/or damage to their bodies...Rockies' pitchers not so much.

Management thought about/experimented with the 75 pitch limit and might be a going with super-size pitchers. The third pick this year was also a pitcher...6' 6", 225...ya think ? Preston
