Mlb 2013

It's quite phenomenal and magical what has occurred with Magic Johnson's EL Lay Dodgers.
Go Blue. It's been a while between all the innings and seasons since the Dodgers were not feeling blue:).

I agree. What they are doing is monumental. Talk about a tale of 2 seasons. I bet LA is buzzing over Dodgermania.

The Rockies open a 3 game series with the Orioles today, so I'll get an opportunity to see my 2 favorite third baseman in MLB, Machado and Arenado, going against each other today, tomorrow and Sunday. I like it.

Rockies are up 6-2 in the ninth...hope they can close it out. They had a good home stand 5 of 6 and should be loose. They're playing for pride. Preston

In yet another display of Philly pro sports "class", Phillies coach Charlie Manuel has been fired, ending his long and distinguished career in baseball with a **** sandwich for his efforts. Fittingly, it was done by GM Ruben Amaro Jr., the man who saddled Manuel with the old and injury prone team that he was trying to shape into a winner, something no manager could have done. I look forward to watching the Phillies wallow and flounder for the rest of the season. Manuel deserved much better than this.

While I agree Charlie may have deserved 'better' (at least in the manner of which he was let go) he was by no means exempt from the Phillies problems, for he more than had his share of managerial blunders.

But I do agree with you Knee, it was classic classless Phila sports. No wonder Philly is the worst sports town in America.

Another series, another sweep as the Dodgers pull off yet another come from behind win after being down 4-0 going into the 6th, and 4-2 into the 9th against the Met's closer. Tie it with a 2 run homer by Ethier, then a pair of doubles from Puig and Gonzales to walk off the win.

Now 40-8 in the 48 games since June 22 and 23-3 since the ASG.

Old news, didn't remember to post it.

Nice win and start of the road trip with 4-0 shutout over the Phils and Cliff Lee. Cliff sure didn't appreciate that botched play in left field though.

Like our chances with Kershaw on the hill today, here's hoping for at least 6 runs of support by the 5th inning. He usually gets less than 2 except for his last outing with 8 by game's end.

Manual said he wanted to wear his uniform while watching the game at home last night, that's how much he loves baseball. Amaro's call ups from the minor leagues have been disgraceful for a team lacking in hitting. Also his signings lately, a 39 year old third baseman, McDonald, Michael Martinez ( from the minors who cannot hit a baseball 300 feet). JStroll said he wants to stay in Philadelphia in order to set some Phillies' records.
A lousy baseball team sure detracts from the summer.

Well Mattingly seemed to get tired of keeping up the winning pace by not fielding his best players as four regulars sat the whole game.
And let the questionable Brandon league lose it.

Yep, should have put AGon in to bat for FedEx with Hairston at first. Let Hairston try and make the steal, Agon try to drive him in, then Uribe up. AJ Ellis was another option as was Crawford. IMO, DM played to not lose, rather than to force the issue and try to win or get a lead.

Hanley's 2 errors cost them the game, but League induced the grounders. Would have preferred to leave Paco in as he was rolling and his stuff was nasty.

I don't always believe in playing the percentages but rather roll with the hot hand till proven wrong.

Oh well, can't win them all. Time to roll on the Marlins, take at least the first 3 and then try for a sweep, start a new streak.

I believe continuing the streak and the milestone record was very important to the Dodger team and removing hot hitters like Uribe et al, and fielding a less dominant team in this situation was a momentum changer.
I like Mattingly but don't trust his moves down the stretch...until he proves otherwise:).

I have a bad feeling the Braves are primed for a collapse. Too many key injuries. They managed after the loss of Hudson. Heyward catching a fastball on the chin really hurts. Literally, no doubt. Heyward batting lead off was wildly successful. 6-8 weeks without.

I hope the lead is enough and they can hang on. Smoke and mirrors for the next month.

We can only hope.:D:smoke:

Cards are back to even with the Pirates in the NL Central. Reds are 2.5 back. We have 1 more game against the Braves today to finish the 4 game series, then the Reds come to town for 3, then we go to Pittsburg..

Cards have called up 19 rookies from their minors this year. They have a lot of young inexperienced talent, which appears good for their future. Time will tell how they develop.

The Reds lead the Cardinals in St. Louis after 6 innings in the first of a dozen games against only the Reds and Pirates. If any of the three contenders in the NL Central gets on a roll, they could well pull away with a commanding lead in the best divisional race in the big leagues in the course of the next two weeks. Not much more than a month to go in the regular season, it's time to either fish or cut bait.

edit: high drama in St. Louis in the last third of the game. St. Louis scores 5 runs in the 7th, including a grand slam, and they lead by 3 runs. Make that a 2 run lead, the Reds got a solo homer from their first batter in the top of the 8th. I'm really glad ESPN elected to put this one on Monday Night Baseball.

Well the Hirsute Boston "Bears" came to EL Lay and gave the relatively hairless Dodgers a good butt-pounding:)

Somebody had to lose that series, but Boston did not have to face LA's best pitchers either. If all goes according to plan, should be an interesting post season.

I missed the good stuff. Had to set the alarm for 3am for work and shut the game off in the 6th. The NL Central is setting up for a great Sept. Nice to see the Cards showing a little power instead of small ball.
