I'm pretty sure B&O cartridges are technically "Moving Iron" cartridges. Although, MMC supposedly stands for "Moving Micro Cross" according to this article:

I know from personal experience that the MMC line of B&O cartridges are intended to be plugged into a MM phono stage. However, they are pretty low output cartridges in the 2.2 - 2.5mv range (similar to a lot of High Output Moving Coils). So, they do need a pretty high gain phono stage, or else the user will have to live with really cranking the volume on your preamp, which will in turn raise the noise floor.
