I have a hankering to collect a few classic receivers and there is a 661 available locally , I want 661 owners to share their impressions of this little Sansui .

In one word ...great

My 661 took the place of an equally watted pioneer SX xxx receiver from around the same era. Even through 'cheap' Radio Shack' speakers the sound appears larger.

I was just telling my wife last night I would find it hard to part with my 771. It's a wonderful receiver with the sound I like.

Like it even more than my Marantz 2238B .....

At the moment I have a Sansui 441 and 881.They're a great sounding series of receivers. Although I do prefer the sound,build quality of my Sansui Eight Deluxe,but that one had a higher MRRP than the 881.

I love my 661, best $20 I ever spent. Great, old school "warm" sound, cool green lights, it's definitely a keeper.

I just picked an 881 today and I'm very very happy with it. I've wanted an xx1 receiver for a while now and it doesn't disappoint. These models sound really good at low to moderate volumes. While the lower wattage models have trouble driving some speakers and can sound thin with higher volumes, the 881 does fine with my infinity three ways that like a lot of juice. The 661 is regarded by people who own the whole series as a favorite per a previous thread, so if you match your speakers well I'm sure you'll be happy.

Eight Deluxe is the cream of the crop. Very nice receiver. They fetch a good price too. Have yet to hear one.

I have a 661 at my office running KLH 6's. A very nice combo. Nice little unit with plenty of warmth. FYI, the dial lamps are fuse lamps and take all of about 5 minutes to change out. One of my favorite pieces of vintage gear.

I just had the cover off mine Friday night. The far left dial light was intermittent. Checked the solder joints on the back of the light holders with 10x magnification and sure enough one of the joints looked cracked. Reflowed the joint and it's burning steady now. Been bugging me for a couple months. It was a productive weekend!
