Model 8B reissue

I ran across a someone on eBay selling a reissued model 8B made by VAC. I didn't know that there was a 8B reissue model. I did a search and didn't find any previous information regarding this model. Any thoughts about this?

Yep, I not only remember them, but saw one in person. They were an exact replica, down to the string-bundled cables, bias meter, etc. and came with GE and Siemens NOS tubes. One difference was they used 5-way binding posts, a better power switch and a IEC AC inlet. Sounded wonderful, especially going thru the "lab" inputs, which bypassed all high-pass filtering.

With a simple (and easily reversed) modification, they can be run in "triode" too. Very neutral sound wired in Ultralinear
(not at all "tubey") with an impressive s/n ratio. The Triode modification just made it too soft and tubey for my tastes.

I always flipped back and forth on that triode / pentode / ultralinear thing. Eventually always going back to pentode ultralinear. Just seemed smoother and better balanced.
