Modelers Corner

Post some pics of the aircraft when you make some progress; for me the D-H Mosquito was one of the finest 'planes of WW2 and a masterful piece of engineering.

And once they were able to fit a air to air radar into that mostly plywood plane, it became a deadly and effective night fighter, as a lot of German bomber/fighter pilots soon found out to their dismay/demise !

I'm applying 1.5 oz fibreglass cloth and epoxy to the hull and coating the inside with epoxy only.

the outside of the hull will need four more coats for a smooth look but first I need to sand it with a scotchbrite pad.

Nice save. I was putting decals on the P-38 and the front wind screen came off unnoticed. Rolled over it with the computer chair and it split right down the middle. Lucky it was clean and I could glue it where it was painted but it bugs me every time I see it.

Finally got the lights for the VW Bus and installed them. They were about a week late. It's nice that they're straight 12 volt. Using 9 volts so they aren't so bright. Got some 9 volt boxes with switches. The box fits between the wheels but it fits. Since it was taken apart and put back together several times the blocks friction fit got loose so it was glued in places. Left the canvas top unglued to reach the light switch.
Painted the red wheels white the dog dish hub caps chrome along with the bumpers, mirrors and front VW emblem. A metallic silver marker for the handles. Looks more appropriately finished now. Used some decals left over from the XKE.

That iconic mini/micro bus triggered some long ago fond memories of riding in them at various times, and versions a long time ago in a distant galaxy.

Good job, sanford12.

Thanks for the pleasant memories, Sir.
