Modelers Corner

Using Future, hm?

Speaking of future, here's a pic of a 'what-if' tank that's not really futuristic, but more like fantastical, it's MiniArt's 1/35 scale winter schemed 'sharotank' I built a couple of years ago. View attachment 2722738

That tank got mentioned in a tank documentary I watched. Need to look it up and learn more.

Hasegawa 1/72 A-1 Skyraider. Nothing fancy; just built out of the box and hand painted. I'd love to use an airbrush but never got around to it.

Just got back from Hobby Lobby and models are 40% off. Picked up the Torino and VW bus there. The VW is a no paint or glue and goes together like Legos without the boxy looking exterior. Got it just to check it out. Probably put it together on the couch while watching some TV. Got the Torino because as it is something I would buy if I was going vintage unless there was a 67 Fairlane 390 GT.

The 2 planes I picked up a few weeks ago. Surprising how long it took to find the right C-47. Not a very popular plane at the moment but it and the Mosquito were hugely valuable to winning the war and are just too cool.

Looks like I'm set for awhile.

It was relaxing to put the VW van together sitting on the couch watching TV. Not much to it and it is a Lego like build. It was just too red and too white and needed some help. Looking it over there were some small things that could make it look more finished. First off the wheels were red and should be white like the top then the dog dish hub caps were white so I used the chrome paint on them the outside mirrors and the big VW for the front. The windows came a little foggy and cleaning didn't help so for the first time I tried Pledge Revive It Floor Gloss. Worked great. Just dipped the windows in it let the excess drip off then set them on a paper towel to dry. Came out crystal clear. Next it was going around using a metallic silver Sharpie to color all the outside handles. I'll do the same to the window frames tomorrow. It's pulled apart right now but I'll take some pictures when it's back together.

It'll be Saturday before I'll get the VW back together. Got some LED's coming for the headlights and front turn signals.

Post some pics of the aircraft when you make some progress; for me the D-H Mosquito was one of the finest 'planes of WW2 and a masterful piece of engineering.

It's the supreme example of making do with what you have. For the British to come up with a wooden airplane in WW II with that kind of performance and versatility was nothing short of amazing
