Modelers Corner

So very nice! Did the kit come with the Zimmerit?
The mid and late Tiger 1 models from Taigen/Torro do come with a fairly decent rubber zimmerit applied. I bought a new zimmerit kit because I had cut the original turret zimmerit as I had at first done an Abt 505 so the first turret had needed cutting out for the knight battalion logo. Also I needed extra zimmerit anyway for the lowest parts of the front and rear plates that Taigen doesn't cover. I hate doing zimmerit so any kit that is realistic enough works for me. Atak is the best but they no longer will ship to Canada unfortunately thanks to our awful post and customs system

Thanks for the answer!

By the way, do you have any of the old Fedorowicz books on the history of those heavy Tiger battalions? "sPzAbt 503 and 508" are nice books.

As are the "TIC, Tigers In Combat" ones. :thumbsup:

Yes I have the 503 one and of course Otto Carius's Abt.502 "Tigers In The Mud" which is probably the best of them all. The one I want the most is a book on the 506 but I don't think one exists. Lots of info on them but all spread out

I don't know of any specific books on sPzAbt 506 history—just books on the unit's battles.

The sPzAbt 653 and sPzPzJAbt654 "Elefant" and JadgPanther unit books are good, too.

Evening folks! :bye:
While I'm not a builder, @Space Ritual mentioned that you folks might appreciate my 1:18, and occasionally 1:24 scale, die cast cars collection. Nothing overly collectible that I'm aware of, but I prefer to enjoy my collection by displaying them in my man cave instead of them being in boxes in a closet. I've been recently teasing another AK member with pics every so often. Here is what I've posted so far.

My SO collects diecast, plastic, metal, and promos, many of which were lost in a tornado that destroyed our storage. We still have a house full of survivors.
My older bro entered the Fisher Body Craftsman Guild builder competition several times 60-odd years ago, screenshot of one of his entries, 1963, casting the windows was a RPITA bitch;

The loss. :thumbsdown: from mother nature.
Those designs are very cool! Thanks for posting. No doubt were a pain in the butt to make...

His first was an optional fiberglass construct instead of the usual wood block carving, he thought it would be easier, but not so much as it turned out. A major RPITA project that stunk up the house with an unforgettable sharp pungent chemical stench. The model, rather fragile, did not survive several moves and is lost.
