Modelers Corner

Finished up the F-15 D-Day commemorative model. Not bad for a Revell model, price was right with the 40% off. Don't care for the soft plastic. The sprues are too thick making removing some parts difficult to remove and some of the small parts just don't fit well. Then there's the extra detail for the engine nozzles that is better than any other plane model I ever had.

Needs a little touch up but here it is.

Ready for take off ! Looks great !

I was looking at my scratch built waterline Cival WR river monitor and decided canopies were called for.I cut out styrene discs with I dex lines and cut one into pie pieces.I used brass tubing on the bottom to raise the pie pieces up and glued them together.Puttied the seams and used brass stanchions to raise the canopy above the turrets.Painted them light gray and installed them(they are removable) successfully project!IMG_20240904_143504760.jpgIMG_20240904_143504760.jpgIMG_20240904_145520290.jpgIMG_20240904_210153219.jpgIMG_20240905_001809229.jpg

Cool ironclad !

I used to have tons of Hot Wheels (as well as some Matchbox cars) that I would play as a young child. Eventually my parents sold all of them (including the track sets) when we moved. I would've liked to keep at least a handful..

Anywho, I do have one diecast car which I found at an antique store for $30. It's a 1:18 scale 1937 Lincoln Zephyr Coupe made by Precision Collection 100. It's not in great shape (needs some TLC, also one of the fender skirts is broken off), but it's a cool automobile and has lots of interactive parts (doors, hood, trunk, suspension).

That said I would be more interested in trading it for a different diecast car, or pickup or SUV of equivalent quality (especially since I'm spoiled by this thing). Anything less won't do.

The Savoy in Cartersville has the full size 1939 original, one of my faves. (Hard to choose just one)

A Royal Aircraft Factory SE-5 perhaps? ;)

(PS, in case your wondering, I never put pilots in my RC models, and when people ask why I tell em with a really weird look on my face "That's MY seat!" :rflmao: )

It's a bit of an odd duck. Hanriot HD.1. Special edition that comes with photo etched parts. A little pricey but a nice looking plane.

I don't know if I've posted these pics before, my apologies in advance if I did........

This is my Son, a long LONG time ago holding my Stearman PT-17 in front of the real thing at an airshow. The PT-17 pilot loved my model so much he wanted it displayed alongside his ;)
