Modelers Corner

Vac Form kits are made differently than normal injection molded plastic kits .The forms for the parts are put on a flat plate and a sheet of heated plastic is put over the forms .A vacuum is turned on sucking the plastic sheet over the forms to make the parts. Then you have to cut them out ,sand them down on a IMG_20240814_235321316.jpgflat surface until they fit together as well as you can .Then you use liquid cement to glue them together.A little tricky but not too hard once you learn how to build them

Here's the F-15 about half done. My Paasche air brush finally gave up the ghost and had to go with my old Master backup air brush. It's working better than I remember. The Master is a good one to start air brushing with as it works well at less than half the price of the Paasche.

The F-15 kit has the most detailed engine nozzles of any kit down to having to apply 12 little actuator rods per nozzle. Amazing that I didn't lose one them. They add a lot to the looks of the nozzles. Have a F-106 Delta Dart on the way. for the next build.

Saw a video about a hobby shop in Louisville on You Tube. From the video it looked to be an out of the ordinary nice shop. Had an open day and it was really nice so a good time for a drive. Took Emily(my dog) with me. Got to the place and from the outside looked like an ordinary strip mall store front. Once inside it was bigger than I thought and stuffed to the gills with about everything you want. Never seen that many RC of all types. Their RC plane selection was huge as well as wheeled RC's of every type. It was the best hobby store I've ever been in. It didn't stop with their inventory. The staff was excellent and you could tell they loved to talk about what they sell, also had a nice WW II history talk. The model selection is overwhelming and they have models from companies I've never heard of with a lot of very large scale models you don't see often.

The name of the store is Scale Reproductions Hobby Shop. If your in Louisville and a hobbyist it should be on your must see list. Bought a limited edition Eduard WW I
Hanriot HD.1 biplane. It might get built before the Delta Dagger as it will be 2nd week of September before it gets here.
