Modelers Corner

Went to a couple of car shows today. Both were busts with few cars but at the 2nd one there was a guy with a tremendous amount of die-cast. He had a Jada VW Bus flat bed hauler that I couldn't pass up. Opening doors and engine cover as well as the windshields open. The flat bed extends too. As soon as I saw it thought of the couple of VW Bus's at home and how they'd look good being hauled by it and they do.

That is a nice dual to have! A 23-window on top.

Here's my HO setup. Never got to finish it as we sold the house. DCC is the way to go. Running 3 trains at the same time was a hoot.

Finished the FW-190 except for the antenna wire. Like the red bottom more than I thought I would.

I have a whole bunch of almost new OO Hornby Wrenn locomotives and rolling stock that have been in their near mint original boxes since 1970.Can’t believe what they sell for on eBay. Wanted to set up a layout when I retired but the RC tanks make more sense for me as I don’t have the space and they can be run outside. Most armor weathering techniques were pioneered by model railroaders

A modeling question:

I really like models of structures, like for train sets, but I don't have a train set up.

I would like to find a source where I could buy a program to tell a 3D printer to make the pieces of some epic model castle or grand building, so I could print the parts and assemble the model.

Do such things exist?

I tried CG Trader, but it's all virtual.

Anybody know any sources for this?

Are you talking about hand scanners/3D setups? Like this one?

A cheaper one.

Model Trains O gauge again...

A little French model from the brand LR Le Rapide Louis Roussy :

At right, a well preserved one from 1935, at left, a restored derelict one from the same era.

As you can see, this little locomotive is flush on the rail track : this was intended for reaching maximum speed without derailment... Indeed, those two are the fastest of my collection, making spectaculary slipping brakes on the track !

By the way, it is stated in the ad of the LR company : Le train marchant le plus vite dans le monde des jouets (the fastest train in the worls of toys)
