I like anything that Morel has made over the years. Some of their new stuff is ground breaking, utilizing carbon fiber and their tried and true manufacturing technique. Their flagship's cabinet is even made of the stuff. They're made in Israel I believe or there about. I'd say those are worth the effort.

Yeah you're 100% on them being Dynaudio clones. The woofers match the 21 W-54. Looks like it'll cost around $30 for the surrounds, maybe another $6 for dust caps. I'm thinking this is borderline not worth it. If I were to sell these, which have some corner damage from being dropped I doubt I would get much more than $60 for them and that's stretching it.

Vacuum fixed the dust cap, good tip. I'm disappointed with parts express. It was a $30 order, $30 shipping and for what should have included a brokerage fee we got charged another $15 in taxes to get it to Ottawa, Ontario. $75 for a crappy foam kit and two cheap tweeters. They didn't even make sure the surrounds weren't scratched. The foam is no doubt thinner where that scratch is on the surrounds. I'm certainly going to avoid ordering from there. There aren't many options but I'm not impressed at all. If they're going to charge me so much make sure the products are 100%.

If it is a Morel then it IS good stuff!! I have never used there drivers/ speakers without being completely impressed when I can afford them that is. Their MDT 30 soft dome tweeters are some of the best soft dome I have ever used!! If you can afford Morel by all means use them- they are top shelf drivers indeed!!!

S-o-o-o with the surrounds repaired and the new tweets, what do they sound like?

I've never been that impressed with parts express either. aside from the odd large sale items from over stock or old stock situations I don't deal with them. IMO mostly suited to lower end fixes and builds. But hey your speakers look Okay and if they're sounding good it can't be all that bad. I know Solen usually lists stuff a bit pricier then parts express but once you factor in duty and brokerage fees it's cheaper for us Canadians.

Why didn't you use the original tweeters, they would have been better. Your gonna have to contour the crossover to suit the new ones.

Great speakers...just curious, how come you put glue on the inner outside edge of the new speaker foam? Curious as I have refoamed a lot of sets but never glued the cone and the side that does not get glued down. Please forgive me if that was a mistake....but if it was not enlighten me as I always like to learn new re-foaming techniques. Next time...go generic on Ebay, I have great luck for 5.00 free shipping for foam.

Sorry guys I wasn't being specific enough and talking about another project here. I thought since the piezos on my DQ-10's were discontinuous then they were blown, which is not true. I had to order a 2nd pair to replace the one I destroyed taking it apart. I realize the part is for the most part useless on the speakers but I wanted them complete nevertheless. This is what I was talking about when I mentioned replacement tweeters.
The morels are great otherwise, really no complaints. I'm not a fan though of the bass department of these speakers, but what can I expect. Maybe more acoustically dead speaker stands (chimney blocks?) would help dampen the "boomyness" of these bookshelfs.
I apply glue to whatever is bonding, I don't just glue one side then push it down to the other side without glue. I'll at least try to "prime" every surface that needs to hold with a bit of glue. Is this what you were talking about?
