Saw the thread about greatest band ever and wanting to stir the pot a little more...what is the most overrated band ever? My personal vote goes out to none other than.......drum roll please sir.....

I like Nirvana, but can see why they could be considered overrated, as they were basically a rehash of the Pixies, who were much better. My vote goes to the Who, not just because I think most of their late-60's and after stuff sucks (Quadrophenia, anyone? Oof.), but because of the esteem they are held in by rock fans. Close runners up would be Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stones.

I like The Who, they are fun, but Roger and Pete would agree that they were/are over-rated. I think they have both said so at one time or other.
 
Ok you asked for it, sure Dark Side was recorded really well, but still Pink Floyd to me is the most highly over rated band. You can take a turd and polish it up really nice and shiny, but it's still a turd!
My opinion.
 
I love Pink Floyd but I have to agree that they are a little overrated. "The Wall" may be my vote for most overrated album of all time. Roger Waters whining about his childhood for 4 sides? A little hard to take.

I'd like to stick up for Dave Clark here. He had some great tunes back in the day, even though they were the poor man's Beatles.

My post was meant to prove the quoted person wrong! There are plenty of GREAT singing/song writing drummers. My list is the few of the greats I could come up with off the top of my head. We agree!
