Multiple TT's

The turntables I currently have in regular use in my main listening room are:

1) AR-XA suspended belt drive with marcmorin mods to sub-chassis, bearings, and tonearm. This is currently my main go-to deck.

2) Denon DP-1200 direct drive. I have had one of these since 1979 when I purchased my first one while still in high school.

3) Thorens TD-160 suspended belt drive. I just picked up this deck a couple of weeks ago and am in the process of getting it all tuned up and operating at the top of its' game. It still needs a little work to get into the same league as my other 2 decks though.

1. Main System TT = Thorens TD 160B w/ SME 3009 series II; Shure V15-III w/ Jico SAS

2. Home Theater (second system) = Technics SL-1600 MK II; Denon DL-110

Back ups:

Kenwood KD 550 (needs tonearm)
Marantz 6300
Yamaha P751

Some are transitory.

These are all functioning and the current high rotation keepers are in bold:

Technics SL-1200 MKII
Technics Sl-1800
Technics SL-5
Technics SL-B2 (probably soon to be sold)

Sony PS-2400
Sony HMP-70 (technically a system)
Sony PS-Q3

Dual 1019
Dual 510

Realistic LAB-500
Realistic LAB-2100

Harman Kardon ST-7
Harman Kardon ST-6

AR-XA

Garrard Zero 100

Yamaha YP-211 (also probably selling soon)

Projects are hard to list but this is a good sampling:

Dual 1218
Dual 1009
Dual 1216
...and some other Duals :scratch2:

PE-2040
PE-3012
PE-2010

AR-XA
AR-XB

Sony PS-230

Empire 598 II

Plus a hybrid I plan to build from a Dual direct drive system and a Sony tonearm. I'm sure I'm missing some...:smoke:

My Main system is a Technics 1610 MKII

I also have, in no particular order:

Pioneer PL-1000A

U-Turn Orbit+

Technics SL-D2

Consequently, I hardly ever use the D2 anymore, and am thinking of passing on the Pioneer to someone who will use it as often as it deserves. A wonderful table that I just don't listen to as much as I ought to. If or when they leave me, I'm hoping to replace them with a woodgrain Yamaha (not sure on any good models) and a good-condition SL-1200, which I've been considering getting for quite some time.

Ay caramba.

I forgot the Technics SL-1700 MKII. It works great but needs a paint job.

Only two of the same make around here.

Belt drives - Ariston RD11s, Thorens TD-125, Braun PS-500, B&O Beogram 3000, BIC 980

Direct Drives - Technics SP-15, SL-D2

Idlers - Dual 1219, Garrard LAB 80, Type A, (coming soon) Rek-O-Kut B-12H

Some sorting out needs to be done and a few need to find homes where they get play time. Definitely.

My 3 Yamaha's , all CL finds. P500 main, P220 mainly used for ''rock'', TT500U for needle drops. Pioneer PL512 for living room.

I've cut back, trying to thin the herd of vintage gear which threatens to overtake all the living space in my listening room & shop. Down to 4 turntables now (but still 11 different amps/preamps to sort through). In order of listening time:

VPI Scout (modded)
Empire 208 (in process of a total re-envisioning -- currently weight about 75 lbs)
Thorens TD-150-II (mono cartridge for hundreds of mono LP's in my collection)
Technics SL-Q2 (gathering dust, soon to be gone)

Eventually hope to be down to two, one with a mono cartridge and one for everything else.

By location not preference:

Music Room:
Sony PS-2251LA, SME 3009 S2, Audio Technica AT20SL Limited Edition
B&O Beogram 4002, Soundsmith SMMC20CL

Living Room:
Empire 598 III, Empire 990, Empire 4000D/III
Fairchild 412-1B, Shure/SME 3009, Shure V15-V

Home Office:
Sony TTS-3000, Sony PUA-286, Audio Technica AT15SL

For me it's Sony. I have a PS-X70, 55, and 40, plus a couple of lower end models from the era that are stashed away as "parts" tables. I bought them for the headshells/carts and need to figure out there any parts that are worth keeping for the other tables.

None are hooked up right right now. My two running tables are an AR-XA and a Technics. I rotate the X55 and X40 in every so often. The X70 needs work.

You look like you love the old tables, but not as old as your avatar:D

I was born in 61 and it looks like thats your latest table?

Yeah, my idea of vintage is a bit different than most members here.

To establish a lineage of my decks, you need to know the Presto/Bogen/Lenco association.
Presto was the nations/worlds leading manufacturer of radio broadcast recording, playback and broadcasting equip't, from the '20's -> mid-50's. In the mid-50's, they were bought by the David Bogen Company, which had also just been consumed by corporate mergers. They became the Bogen-Presto company, selling the remnant stock of Presto turntables, which were rebadged as B-P, until they sold out, and needed a new TT supplier; Lenco enters the picture. Lenco supplied TT's to Bogen, which rebadged them as Bogen-Presto (but they are Lenco decks). Bogen-Presto continued selling decks, but were eventually bought out by the Lear-Siegler Corp, which eventually phased out the Presto name, leaving Bogen, and eventually closing out the Bogen name as well by the mid-60's..
So my two Bogens, three Bogen-Prestos, and one Lenco are all distant step-cousins from opposite sides of the pond; making a total of six decks between all of these mergers and cooperations; plus the two oddballs.
